No, I feel that at this age they should be independant… Should be able to buy food for themselves, cook for themselves, and wash their own clothes…hehe…

why not? they will have friends. otherwise, at this age, you may not know what they are doing at home 😉 however, most of them may not want to go anymore and school usually ends late. so, may not worth the $$$.

                plan a time-table.
talk to him and explain that secondary 1 is very crucial.

i explained to my son he has to work VERY VERY hard or else he will be slip into normal acad 5 years (no offence)...homework has to be completed everyday before bedtime or he will be punished by teachers.

as there will be 7-8 subjects, it may not be a good idea to get assessment books. finishing daily hw is tough enough. maybe you can take a few days leave on-off to spot check on him.

Yes, I also recommend others to stop at P5. Lot of supplementary lessons & remedial lessons in P5 & P6. School tends to end late from P5 & the amount of daily homework given in school is enough to keep the kid occupied. Anyway, I don't think the kid wants to go to student centre when he goes to Sec 1. But then, parents might worry that they mix with the bad companies.
