I think I fail reading comprehension because I don’t see any notice of termination in AHTC’s email to AIM of 10 June 2011.

But that would not be surprising, because I am not of the same calibre or in the same pay grade as those who apparently do.

The Town Council Acts states:
15.
—(1) A member of a Town Council who is in any way, directly or indirectly, interested in a transaction or project of the Town Council shall disclose the nature of his interest at a meeting of the Town Council.

(2) The disclosure under subsection (1) shall be recorded in the minutes of the Town Council and the member shall not take part in any deliberation of the Town Council with respect to that transaction or project.

(3) For the purpose of determining whether there is a quorum, a member shall be treated as being present at a meeting notwithstanding that under subsection (2) he cannot vote or has withdrawn from the meeting.

56. All members, officers and employees of a Town Council and all employees of its managing agent shall be deemed to be public servants for the purposes of the Penal Code (Cap. 224).
The Penal Code states:
169. Whoever, being a public servant, and being legally bound as such public servant not to purchase or bid for certain property, purchases or bids for that property, either in his own name or in the name of another, or jointly or in shares with others, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 2 years, or with fine, or with both; and the property, if purchased, shall be confiscated.
I am not saying anybody did anything illegal har. No doubt, someone will be able to tell us how to interpret and apply those provisions correctly. :imanangel:

If you talk nonsense, then the aggrieved party is expected to respond. I think that's fair.

Is that why they they wouldn't post the entire AA's article on MSM? Let the people decide if it is nonsense. Don't just post the allegations.

Hv read Alex Au's four parts of 'misAIMed...'
I certainly failed to see any specific defamatory remarks in his articles directed at d PM. Has anyone else here read those articles? Please point out any defamatory remarks as u see it.
However AA raised some pertinent questions on an issue of public interest dat needs to be properly addressed.

It doesn't earn the 'suer' any respect from the voters.

Fully concur with dis view.
m disappointed dat d PM saw it fit to issue a letter of demand thro his lawyer to Alex Au to remove his articles n d comments therein in his first public course of action is dis matter.
Even if AA capitulates to save his skin n avoid being drag thro d courts at great costs in a libel suit dat he knows is heavily stacked against him, wat PM will achieve is a Pyrrhic victory for it will be seen as a behemoth with vast resources n a huge war chest browbeating an ordinary citizen into submission.
He knows fully well dat in d current scenario, whether right or wrong, AA will likely capitulate.
PM's reputation wld hv been better served if he had chosen to engage d citizens directly on d pertinent issues raised, if THP has deemed to hv failed in doing so, n clarify any perceived 'false and baseless' allegations head-on instead of 'hiding' behind d threat of a law suit.
d respect for him as d PM, SG of PAP wld hv been enhanced if he convincingly debunk d 'false and baseless allegations' in d court of public opinion.

Not his article per se.. It has to be taken together with 21 (out of 160) readers' comments--posted under his article--to be considered defamatory, cos, according to Lee's lawyer (as reported in ST), \"Mr Au, who decides which comments sent to his site are published, was responsible and liable for the offending posts as well.\"..
