For this yr, it was announced during orientation day.. I find that the first day of school for p1 this yr to b less organized than 2 yrs back. The teachers were still eating lunch n the buddies still in their classrooms. There were no signages or guides to tell the p1s where to go.
Was impressed when ds1 joined the sch 2 yrs back, n thot it was very well organized n assuring for the kids. This time round, saw many p1s wandering aimlessly b4 a teacher came out fr canteen to gather them to the hall. -
Hi, my boy is in P3 this yr. Was looking at his timetable. Anyone knows what "MCCA" and "HR" stand for? Thanks.

Anyone know beside the school bookshop, where can we get My Pals are Here! Maths Homework for P2? Have been checking with the school bookshop since Nov, but was told it is out of stock. My husband went again on Thu and was told still out of stock. What upset me is, everyone in my son class has the book except him. Had tried popular, was told they don’t carry the book, only the school.

Only school bookshop carries the MPH Homework book. Popular carries the Workbook.
Out of Stock frequently happens for MPH Homework book as not many schools are using it and the publisher does not want to print excess copies.
You can leave a contact number with the school bookshop operator for them to call you back once stock comes in. -
Agree to a certain extent that the orientation was rather disorganised and the ppt slides were lacklustre to say the least, in terms of the colours, background and interest level (We were not even informed of the briefing beforehand). The font size used was also small, and parents sitting at the back would find it difficult to read. I was sitting in the front and already found it small… I believe the ppt slides have been ‘recycled’ many times. Results wise they seemed decent enough. So I m trusting the good hands of the teachers.

There were many acronyms in the timetable which I do not understand. The school shd have inserted a legend to explain those acronyms, instead of assuming that parents know what they stand for. Eg HPE, HHE, FTGP, HCME

Found this from another thread. Now I know what FTGP stands for. Does PH have PAL program?
PAL - Programme for Active Learning (PAL)
As part of the Primary Education Review and Implementation (PERI) recommendations accepted by MOE in 2009, PAL was introduced to strengthen the emphasis on non-academic programmes for Primary 1 and 2 pupils. This is in line with a key desired outcome of PERI recommendations to balance the acquisition of knowledge with the development of skills and values. This is to prepare our children for a more dynamic future. Conducted within curriculum time, PAL modules provide pupils with broad exposure in two areas — Sports and Outdoor Education, and Performing and Visual Arts. It aims to facilitate the well-rounded development of pupils in the five learning domains (cognitive, moral, social, aesthetics and physical) and help pupils to develop social emotional competencies.
FTGP - Form Teacher Guidance Period (FTGP)
FTGP serves as an additional platform for Form Teachers to build better rapport with the pupils so as to enable them to identify the needs of the pupils and provide better support for them. The teachers undergo training to equip them with the skills and resources for them to carry out class-based activities that will better support the development of pupils’ social-emotional competencies. Through FTGP, pupils will have a more structured environment for class and peer interaction, understanding of their emotions and needs and more conversations with their teachers. We hope that with the new structure in place our pupils will grow to be individuals who are confident and having the resilience to overcome future challenges and achieve success. -

HPE - Hall PE - group PE for more than one class
HHE - Hall Health Education - group lesson
HCME - Hall Chinese Civics & Moral Education - group lesson
Personally, I do not like these lessons conducted in the hall - lack of personal touch and some pupils might switch off without the teacher knowing. -
