PSLE 2012 - Results Discussion

It’s normal that girls outperform boys in primary schools. When it comes to secondary and JC, that’s when the boys and girls are usually on equal footing in terms of results generally.

It does not really matter which gender is better at PSLE. That is too much of a generalisation. It is the individual that counts. Maturity may play a role (i.e. the girls) but ultimately it is the determination, motivation and hard work of the individual. The stats ultimately mean nothing to an individual.

In my dd's class, the boys all did better than the girls, most went to the first tier sec schools. The teacher mentioned that the boys are much stronger in math n science.
Agreed. Girls are better in languages. Whereas, boys are stronger in Maths & Science. My boy got A* for Maths & Science. However, top 5 in his school are boys. They end up in HCI & RI. -

Agreed. Primary school boys tend to be more playful & get distracted by computer games. They usually pick up in Sec school. -
Oh no...After reading all your comments. I am getting paranoid and worried. DS doing his PSLE this year. And these T-Scores, mean scores, nationwide cohort's results affecting total aggregate is making me have butterflies in my stomach.
Honestly, when did it become this bad?? My heart is beating as though King Kong is banging it like bongos!
To the kids who didn't do well. Here is my mantra to my kids.
Never give up on yourself cuz Daddy and I sure as H*** haven't and never will. Never let anyone make you feel bad about yourselves! Always do your best and always be happy. There will always be disappointments in life but it is how you deal with them that matters cuz it will change your course!
Hope this helps and do look forward to the future!

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone know of some T scores results of students who got A* for Maths and Science, then A for English and B for Chinese?
My dd’s turn for psle has yet to come, but I can see that she’s heading in that direction as she’s aiming for A* for maths and Sci, but her languages getting A or B as she is not that good in her languages.
Any advice would be very much appreciated.
