Home Leave for Indonesian helper
-
Hi all,
My indonesian helper is going on leave back to Indonesia for 2 weeks. She will be coming back to continue her contract. I called up the agency and they advised me to apply a home leave at the Indonesian embassy.
I tried calling the Indonesia Embassy but to no avail! The line keep ringing and ringing but nobody picks up. Even if it get picked up, I will be transferred to a line that nobody answer. :slapshead:
I saw on the website that home leave is not needed;
http://www.kemlu.go.id/singapore/Pages/AboutUs.aspx?IDP=108&l=en
how true is that?
Can anyone who has sent their Indonesian helper please help me out on this? I do not want to waste time and effort to go down to the Embassy for nothing as I have 2 younger kids at home.
Thank you in advance!!! -
You do not require to make a trip down to Embassy.
I guess any agency will be glad to help you dispatch all the nec process if you’re willing to pay a service fees
save hassle. -

No approval is required from Indonesia embassy for home leave.
Just ensure your maid has a valid KTKLN card when she exits Indonesia. To apply or renew the KTKLN card she needs a work agreement endorsed by the Indonesia Embassy in Singapore.
And remember to apply for your levy waiver when she returns. I make sure I get it back from the goverment ! -
Hi Amitabha88,
I called the agency but not much is required of them since I need not do a renewal (contract is not up) and I have bought the air tickets. They were the ones who advised me to get home leave myself at the embassy.
:?
Thank you for your reply though! Appreciated!Amitabha88:

Hi Queen or Maid,
Just want to check if the valid KTKLN card must have the same condition like passport eg six months before expiry date must renew etc? Mine is valid till June 2013.
I am real scared that no proper document, my helper cannot come back to Singapore. :slapshead:
For the levy waiver, I just need to log in WPonline right?
Thank you for your reply too! Appreciated!! -

She applies or renews her KTKLN card when she is back in Indonesia. What you need to do on your end now is to get her the working contract from the local Indonesia Embassy. It is a two/three pages document signed by yourself / helper and endorsed by the embassy. They will give you two copies (one for her to bring back) and some notes with addresses where she can apply for the KTKLN card back home. She will also need to purchase insurance (Rp290,000) – all done by her in Indonesia. The card is like their exit permit and it is not tied to her passport validity. My helper passport is expiring in October but was issued a 2 years validity KTKLN card.
In fact, my helper went back in December and I was so worried (or kiasu) she will get held back in Indonesia I even got my home address endorsed in her passport. I kept reminding her to sort out the KTKLN card first before she enjoys her home leave which she did and sent me a text too.
Apply the levy waiver online on CPF website upon her return. -
Hi Queen or Maid,
Thank you for your detailed reply! The maid agency got back to me too saying my helper will need a home leave cos she was under the ‘old rules’. I guess a trip down the Embassy is unavoidable.
My helper’s KTKLN card will only expire in June 2013. Does that mean she need not renew her card since she will be back in Singapore by February 2013? She told me she intend to continue another 2 years with us then go back Indonesia for good so does not want to go through the hassle of applying a new KTKLN card (plus don’t want to waste money).
I’m thinking should be the case too. Will ask the Embassy when I go down too.
Thank you once again. Appreciated! -
Hi all,
I am bringing my Indo helper to Bali for holiday. I was told that I need to apply home leave at the Indonesian Embassy. I called my agency and also said the same. They said any Indo maid going back to Indonesia needs to apply home leave. I dont have to go thru these hassle when I brought her to Thailand.
Does anyone have such experience? Is it true that I need to go Indonesian Embassy with my helper to apply home leave even though I am bringing her for a holiday in Bali.
Please advise. Thank you in advance! -
I cannot guarantee this, but I have a few friends that brought their maid to Indonesia for holidays etc. When traveling with the employer, they can just go through (what I called first class citizen)… but when traveling by themselves (home leave), they become third class… where all these KTKLN business comes into play.

Thanks. I had sent an email to Indonesian Embassy but no reply yet and called but no answer. The web site wasnt clear. May be I need to make a trip to the Embassy. I had told my helper if its so troublesome, she shall stay put and look after the house.
