Dear parents, I have some experiences to share. Recently in October this year, I withdrew my girl from the Novena branch. We had waited several weeks before we decided to enquire about our refund deposit. To our surprise, they had not started to process! Well, next thing the centre did was to keep giving us excuses that their boss is overseas. This went on for a week til we had to write in to their headquarters. A prompt reply came but instead of telling us to pick up the deposit, they informed us to pay up the outstanding fees. Fortunately, we kept proper records of all the payments we had made. Of course, they replied it was the counter girl's mistake when we responded with all our proof of payments. We still have not received anything yet up til today. We paid up every term fees on time yet we had to go through all these trouble just to get back a small amount of our deposit. So to all of u who have your little ones with them, do keep all your receipts! We are really giving up....
Yes, I agree that must keep receipts. A famous enrichment centre out there who gives free iPads to students, also made the same mistake. Ask me pay outstanding when there's no outstanding as I gave 1 month calendar notice to withdraw, use deposit to offset last month fee. Still serve me reminder notice to pay. I got fed up and ask them how many times must I tell them that there's no outstanding. Show them receipts and they shut up. Better go for I Can Read, my friend work in enrichment line told me. I cannot reveal or say why here but heard insider info about what happened between LCentral and I Can Read management. -

Teachers r already assigned to teach a particular class/time slot. So it depends on the day/time slot that your child is enrolled into. HTH -
hi all,
my Dd is in ICR and is 5yo.
She came back with lots of spelling on words that she never knew. She said teacher did not go thru with her. then we realised that there are pages that marked as homework and some completed by the teacher. Realised the completed are the small and easy ones but the other 2 is tough.
so question is, is that normal for K1 classes? They just read aloud there and teacher give spelling test every lesson?
If thats the case then what for I pay and in the end I got to teach? -
Hi,
In the ICR programme, the main objective is to teach the children how to read by decoding and use of long and short vowels. From parent standpoint, we need to go through with the children also.
Initially, I only ensure my child know about the decode but as it progress, I realised that we need to enforce them to revise and learn else they will forget.
As for spelling, I am not sure how the teacher practise in other centre, for my child, the teacher who taught them are more concern about them to read so his expectation for the spelling is not high in the sense. But he also expect us to revise basic fundamentals with the child at home.
