Go to http://www.gothere.sg
see whether vj or nj is closer.
choose the closer one.
might want to put first choice rj for a slight chance of entering. -
Both vjc and njc are pretty far for me. The journey for both is more than an hour. And yes I was thinking of putting raffles as my first choice and hwachong the second but im rather worried since im not too sure of my chances of getting accepted. To what i know there are lots of people applying for raffles as their first choice so my chances are relatively slim. As for hwachong most people are placing it as their second choice so i was wondering if i placed it as my first, would i stand a better chance of getting accepted?
By the way, do you know anything about njc? I'm thinking of placing it as my 3rd choice but according to my friend's senior, the teachers there aren't exactly very dedicated.(Not meaning to offend anyone but thats what i heard.)
Thanks for the advice btw!

My daughter lives in west with net score of 6 in O level 2013. She wants to pursure science. Wants to get some advise on selection of school between ACJC, AJC and TJC.
1. ACJC is close from home but since I am not from affiliated school feel disconnected and also got some adverse feedback about culture and poor science faculty particularly physics.
2. AJC is relatively far (17 km) but may be good for sciences. I have less inclination to go there since COP is still lower (8) than what I got and I feel if I deserve better.
3. TJC is far from my place (about 25 km with 1.5 hour door to door travel time). I am impressed with the school. But distance wise little nervous.
I would like an advise from experience of other parents or students about my dilemma.
Urgent advise requested since I have another two days to finalize my choice.

With such score where can I go? What are my chances for CJC? Can some expert please help me!

CJC COP 10 right? Pretty confirmed get in, though I wouldn’t exactly recommend the school.

COP 10 but I 11 so what are my chances. Why won’t u recommend that school?

njc's teachers are more dedicated with more teachers coming in, there are always students having consultation with the teachers ( if that's what you mean, though I have no idea what for?). And most of the teachers are definitely nice and if one manages to be a teacher's favourite - usually due to results and attitude, it places them at a very high advantageBoth vjc and njc are pretty far for me. Hey isadoralizzy!
are you from nj? I'm considering it as one of my choices & if possible could you share how it is like there, thank you!
jesstingwugui, I think you should try for rj or hc, I'm sure you'll be able to get in through appeals, you did score quite well :D. As for rj/ hc, might want to choose based on distance & convenience. If you're planning on appealing, you should put the one you'd like to get in most as first choice for sure. Good luck!!

hi. i am thinking that you’re not asking on behalf of your daughter but instead, for yourself. (you gave it away)
i sought opinions from my cousins who are in the working field now. one was from hwachong, the other from temasek. both said that they regretted not going to ACJC because apparently, ACJCians are well-connected and most of them are very well-off. so if you were to enter ACJC, the chances of you making it far in the future will be high. working is not all about academics and brains but relies on how wide ur network is. this will open many doors to you as opportunities are aplenty.
temasek is very academically-inclined… as you will already know.
anderson is quite mugger-rish. i don’t see any energy in their open houses. as you have mentioned, they are strong in their sciences.
all the best. i live in the east and score a 6 net. i’m putting TJC as my first choice.
i will recommend you put ACJC since it’s near for you. -

Erm yes, I'm from nj. The schools' facilities good, i guess... obviously, you can't compare to those in universities. The teachers are quite dedicated - it really depends on who your teachers are really. But because, i'm actually quite close to my JH teachers, I can ask them to help me tooHey isadoralizzy!

Most of the teachers are friendly.
The downside is that nj is really strict with their rules - but of course, we can always find the loopholes.
The student body is great, people are friendly and everyone will willingly help each other out. There will definitely be the quiet ones, but they are also many who are quiet outspoken. And if you can make an impression (a good one, obviously), you'll get a lot of opportunities
You've probably heard that the students mug alot? Honestly, I don't really see that prevalence in our cohort - it's mostly the mainstream students
