There are no \"mini tests\"? dd1 had them. So I guess there will be gradual build-up to the big paper, SA2 for them this yr bah.
Hehe. I want the long long exams where they fidget and cannot focus and forget to turn the page and leave questions undone and forget to attempt questions which they moved on from and most of all always forget to check. -
The strategy of using more difficult qns to differentiate academic abilities of students has been used since P1. So no need to be alarm, we have 1 yr experience under our belt liao, 2005 mummies

no exam techniques JUST check and double check and triple check the work!!Mawar:
I must be the odd one out. I don't worry about exam techniques and am against teaching tailored for exams. At this age, I want a bigger approach and picture. I feel that they will eventually pick up the exam smarts later.
I'm sure you are not the odd one.
I have figured even if I showcase all the techniques and with careless mistakes, there will be a huge loss in marks. :faint: -

I will ask kids to check but not sure if they do. Kids who do better at exams than their peers (at this age) usually are the more mature, stable and careful ones. -

Not being able to do a problem because of knowledge or comprehension is something I can accept and won't go into \"Oh No\" mode if she will do badly all the time.
but knowing and not bothering to check and losing marks is a bad habit in my books.
when young, being careless is just marks, when they grow older and work, making careless mistakes can amount to a black mark, loss of job , low performance review. I could be reading into it too early but being conscientious and learning to be meticulous is a life skill I would like them to have. -
