3Boys, I heard it first hand from a new citizen hor!!

People will believe what they want to believe....

Prolly feel indebted to d MIWs n is their way of expressing gratitude for gaining citizenship or more prolly self serving. Out of fear when some new citizens still hv other family members' PR n citizenship papers pending.
Dat is d problem we r faced with when ppl cannot differentiate/delink public institutions such as d ICA fr d MIWs.

Sometime people itchy mouth, add juices in hyped season like this. Don't need to believe every rumors.

        \"我们没法子,要投PAP..\"
        So I should go tell them, \"别听这些胡言乱语! 没这回事!想投给谁,就投给谁!投票是秘密的!“ 😆

Maybe they give this answer just to counter the overzealous opposition's persuaders

And if the MIW is associated with that success, it's not unfair, is it?

Hv to file motion to raise an issue for debate in parliament. Not be default nor by turns. Free for all during question time. There is a time limit of 20 mins per MP.

MP cast vote to green-light the motion? Or auto?
Can the motion be turned down? Like say the issue raised is not in public interest?

LOL if it appears auto to u, its coz of d overwhelming PAP majority in parliament. 😉
Ya, bills hv to be tabled, debated n voted before being passed into laws.
MPs can choose to vote with their conscience which may go against their party's motion. It has happened before, but too few n far in between.
There a party whip in place to ensure all MPs in d same party tow d party line, though on rare occasions on policies of where members r asked to vote with their conscience, a party can choose to lift d whip.

              Dat's fair.
But it becomes an unhealthy problem when it is driven by fear, whether real or perceived.

if such \"magic\" can be done, the last poll's winning margin wouldn't be so thin.

                  :scratchhead:
                  wat magic u referring to?

Likewise when opposition parties (other then WP) are driven from the fray by fears, whether real or perceived.

The sad thing is when KJ brings up this issue, instead of folk feeling concerned about the democratic process being undermined, he gets more brickbats and derision, up to accusations of having concocted the whole thing up.
