      Congrats, carebear...

Having hear so much about the big leap in math, that is why I got panicked and decided to brush up on it...

Is math the only subject that he dropped then?

....For what I know, some friends that have got children who scored high 80s for math, dropped as low as 70 plus in pri five.

Yup, my son used to score 90+ for math in P1-P4.
      Then suddenly P5 CA1 scored 78!
We panicked, did lots of math assessments.
Later in the year, gained back momentum, then luckily got A* for math this PSLE.

My DS1 will be P5 next year.

Know that there is a big leap from P4 to P5.
Have spoken to him about it. And we are all prepared....
He is strong in Maths and has strong interests in it too.
        Let's see how he fare...
You may want to prepare him by getting to do some p5 CA1 papers once school reopens or even before. Besides the more complex topics, the exam format is also a major change. From 5 word problems, there will be 12 (pls correct me if I am wrong).

My dd's Band1s started disappearing in P4. I am getting her a tutor for Math next year onwards. Not because she is weak (in fact thats her so-called best subject šŸ˜‰ but I want to support her in reaching her goal for PSLE. IMHO, p5 is when you start preparing for PSLE šŸ˜„

Yes, much to our dismay at that time, as math is his best subject.

Actually, we bought almost all the maths assessments we could find!
Also did past years papers with him.
Particularly good one is Problem-Solving Processes in Mathematics by Fabian Ng.
              Alot depends on your child.
Mine was determined to climb back to his original standard!

No lah.... actually all the credit goes to my DH.
He's the tutor of the house.
My DS attends tuition at Mavis Tutorial Centre too.

                    Section C, of course 😢
Section A was almost full marks and section B was fair enough- i thought there was hope for a high Band 2 until I saw that the sect c was... heartbreaking describes the pain.

                      Thanks anyway šŸ˜‰

                        I like Fabian's books too !!!

After reading the posts, I would like to ask: the drop in banding/marks is not due to complex/too many topics taught in T1 in P5, right ? It is all due to more challenging exam format ? How about carelessness ? Tell me, especially for boys...do they become more careful as they grow older ? šŸ™ Everytime I see the marks lost due to carelessness I :stupid:
