Today is the last day to bring your children on board The Doulos.
This will be a good experience for them to explore this historical vessel.
And what's more, there is a book fair going on in Doulos. Great for book fans like us!

The Doulos, a 130m long ship registered in the Guinness Book of Records as the Oldest Ocean-going Passenger Vessel in the world would be anchored alongside The Promenade from 15 to 26 December 2009 for the last time before it stops sailing.
Doulos was built in 1914 as a freighter and today, she carries a multi-national crew and staff volunteers who promote international understanding and world-wide education through cultural exchange programmes, community service initiatives and a floating book fair. A non-profit charity organization registered in Germany, the Doulos experience encourages all who go aboard to expand their horizons and embark on a voyage of discovery.
The Vessel would be opened to the public from 15 – 26 December 2009 (except on 25 December 2009) at the following timing:

24 December 2009
26 December 2009 10am to 11pm

aiya...why post the last day?
i missed it when we were there 2 weeks back. was then wondering what was that old looking vessel parking over there for. -
ya lor, sashimi and dd1 were there yesterday and i think they didn’t know it was there, probably stayed indoors due to the rain. so suay, why come so late, during my confinement period?

Hubby said he remembered visiting it when he was young. -

Was planning to go there today and so post it here for parents who have no idea where to bring their kids today ;-(
Don’t worry. I think there will be another vessel next year as it seems to be a yearly event.
By the way, the floating book fair was good. They have a good collection of books for the children.
It is very educational to be on board a historical vessel.
The crews are from all over the world and there is a school on board for the children of the crew

yep, and this is their last voyage before it’s de-commissioned or something.
Pity we couldn’t make it…remembered going on board when I was a kid. definitely educational!
