Our solution for this yr - me & another mom from Punggol stopped the bus svc.

Every mng, hubby will send the girls early. I’ll make time to fetch them after school.
I spoke to this Mr Phoon(the OM) regarding the quotation last Dec & he was O-SO-Rude. -.-" Told me to either take it, or leave it (the bus svc) & so, I dcided to leave!

Me too. My hubby will drop her off in the morning and I pick her up & take the public bus after school. I observed that the girls boarding the school bus are rather disorganized.

I would say that the balance is about right although I don't have a comparison as my boys haven't entered primary school yet.

The quantity of homework in lower primary is very manageable and there are no exams in P1. For P2 they still have around 50% of their final marks coming from holistic assessment throughout the year - spelling tests, show & tell, math activities etc. For my daughter she was encouraged to set targets for her P2 exams and the teacher persuaded her to go for a higher target than she initially wanted so I wouldn't say that they allow them to take it easy. They do run remedial classes for those who need it - even for those who are doing well but just need an extra push to improve their marks.

They have a strong emphasis on character building and it seems like they are trying to build up their strength in performing arts on the CCA front. They already have choir, Chinese, Malay & Indian dance and have just introduced drama.

Thank you for sharing bluebelt, as I am thinking of OLGC or OLN. As I just heard from a parent that OLN just change a very good principal. And in the CHIJ forum mostly are talking abt OLN, OLGC seems very low profile. Are they very pro-catholic education? Becoz I'm looking at that will be very important in catholic school. I also heard from some parents some catholic school not so.

Hi everyone… i am mommy to two gals in OLGC now… another gal should join in next year… now i wonder should i go ahead…

the recent events on bus fare was appalling… the rates is just so ridiculous… i think the new vendor is out to force all to make their own arrangement… can we compile what they quote for reference… ? i am just so unhappy i got to LEAVE it… although i had alternative arrangement now for my gals to go school …

my daughter also finds problem with the bus…from her to our house near farrer park, it taking 1.5 hours and she complains of dizziness.

Anybody staying around boonkeng/farrer park, who is arranging car pool to school?

Appreciate if somebody can share some thoughts on this

My girl is in P1 this year. I’ve check the school bus fare with friends who have children taking school bus & within 1km. For my case, I feel it is not drastically overcharging for my distance.

We are paying high each month. However, we are only paying for 9 months instead of 12 months compare to some other bus operator. You might want to take note that no payment for Jun, Nov & Dec as stated in their terms & conditions when we signed up for the school bus service.

                      Hi,

I just joined my daughter in this school a couple of weeks ago in primary 3.

She missed few weeks of classes already.

she was attending an international school earlier. hence we are not familiar with the test pattern…

Appreciate if somebody can share some thoughts, how to prepare for the upcoming tests in early march.

Any suggestions on what books to buy and prepare is greatly appreciated…

                      Thanks

May I ask which class she is in? My daughter is in 3 Humility and mentioned a new girl joined their class.

This is the first year that they are doing the Term 1 progress tests as they had small assessment tests during the year in P1 and P2. You should have received a note on what they will cover so it should be enough just to check that she understands what was covered in maths and Is OK with her English spelling. It should be quite simple.

I don't know about Mother Tongue as it will depend on what she is taking.
