Oh no, I just signed up for 2 sessions of ipl & 2 sessions of laser at my gp. I had my 1st ipl last wk. Didn't like the feeling of it at all. Scabs appeared but have not fallen off. :stupid:

Do u think I should just go for ipl for the nx 3 sessions since I had paid for them? And how many times had you gone through ipl & laser? The thing I am really worried is the long term effect. My face might look flawless now but not sure 10 years down the road. I might look like 60 or 70 if I stop ipl.

Why GP? Are lasers considered invasive procedures? I thought only dermatologists could do this? Or maybe lower grade lasers? What about IPLs done at beauty saloons? Why pay so expensive to see other doctors? If you have money to spend, please go to Punggol Clinic (quite near Serangoon JC and 2 bus stops from Kovan Mrt station. It is located at Blk 23 Hougang Ave 3 #01-283 Singapore 530023. Tel: 62802585. There is a long waiting queue to see the doctor for pimples, acne or pigmentation. This clinic has been around for years and is very famous. Very affordable fee too and for those who are on a budget.1st consultation with the cream is less than $100. There are before and after photos in the clinic for pigmentation and acne.

Desperate, so I switched to a pigmentation cream, TriLuma, contains Retin-A and 4% of hydroquino; Retin-A is an Vit A derivative that promote skin to renew faster and boost the collagen growth. Hydroquinoa is effective in bleaching. Due to all the IPL and laser treatments I underwent, I supposed my skin had thinned out a lot, this cream caused much irritation, redness and slight swelling and very dry. Itchy and flaky.
By then, I decided to stop all treatment and leave it, but a friend highly recommended a dermatologist at Raffles Hospital, after consultation, he only prescribed one cream to me, Lumixyl (unlike other popular aesthetic doctors that would asked me to use their whole set of products.) Apply twice daily on clean skin. That's all it takes! And, I am only on the second bottle, cos a bottle last me for 6+months; before the 1st bottle is used up, my pigmentation already almost disappeared, left only a very faint mark that can only be seen with close examination. Currently, I am on my second bottle which I now only apply once at night every alternate day for maintenance.
However, the dermatologist warned me that pigmentation will always return if I have prolong sun exposure, hormone changes etc.
Don't waste money on IPL, laser treatments, skin care products. See a dermatologist. They have effective topical creams for different type of pigmentation.
And, so much more pocket-friendly. -
I went to a lady aesthetic doctor around orchard area. Spent over a thousand just for 2 products for my melasma. Initially I went there with the intention of doing laser (faster) but after consultation she told me to try out this product first and hopefully it will be a lot lessened then when doing the laser it will be more effective and faster result.
Ok, I went ahead with it. On top of the 2 products, she told me to get other products like a cleanser and the sunblock too. Total cost me around or slightly over two thousand! I must be mad that time, too desperate to get rid of my serious long term melasma which, from small and lighter patches spread to much bigger patches and darker too.
Result after that? NOTHING! So on the 2nd consultation she put on I think is the AHA chemical or something similar which gives me a burning sensation. Worse thing that happened after that was, I went to the doc with only 2 patches on my cheeks and now it is all over my face! The chemical left some brown marks all over my face! :frustrated:
On the 3rd session, she did laser for me, those that will not leave redness or scab type but she said I will have to do at least another minimum 6 more sessions to see some result but then she cannot guarantee it will be all gone or 90% gone when on the very first session she told me it will be all cleared after doing a few sessions of the laser with the 2 products I used!
I did not go back again. I am still hesitating if I should trust her words again by signing up the minimum 6 sessions of laser with her. I have already spent around $3K and what if after spending another thousand or 2 and I still don't see at least a 80% result? I felt cheated. :stupid: -
Forgotten to add on that on the 3rd session, I was told to get a bottle of cream which is supposed to help in lightening too. That tiny bottle burnt another three hundreds out of my pocket. Had wanted me to get another product too I said no money already.

Hi, Flowermonaster.
The doctor I went to is Dr Chris Foo, with consultation and the cream is less than $250. For first timer, he'll asked to see you in a month time to assess if the cream is working. So far, I only seen him 3 times.
Raffles Hospital is near to Bugis, address: Raffles Skin Center, 585, North Bridge Road, #11-00, Raffles Hospital. For appointment 63111222. But he is always fully booked, quite hard to get an appointment.
