washing machine?

My LG WD14331AD still running fine since 2008. Except for 1 time when the circuits when haywire. The repair guy took out the metal board just below the wm top as it causes earthing problem with the circuitry.

Well it still broke down once in first 3-4 years, right? Something to do with circuit boards again…


Anyway, I got 2 calls from LG yesterday & today, informing me the shipment of spare parts will arrive this week. (I sent 2 emails & called twice from last Friday till Monday. ) Hopefully, I can get my washing done properly this weekend. For now, I miss the hot sunny days.

A one-week wait for spare parts is "reasonably tolerable."
Two weeks or longer would mean poor planning. One might as well get a new washer.

We chose LG mainly cos of the 8kg/4kg washer-dryer loading. My old ariston/indesit has a 6kg/3kg loading. LG does seem to clean a bit better & gentler too but it doesn’t last. I’m happy with anything that can last between 5-7 years but 2+ years is ridiculous.

I have not had a top loader so I don’t know about the difference in costs but the washing machine should use less electricity or same as the washing load is much much lighter. It takes about 1+hr to complete a standard cotton cycle. it definitely uses less water.

I am not sure abt electricity but top loader definitely uses more water and the clothes tend to spoil easily.

Personally, I am a fan of front loaders. I currently have an LG and the shortest washing cycle is 30 mins, it is sufficient for me as it does the cleaning well. I normally soak and scrub the collar and sleeve edges before i throw the clothes into the machine.

In order to make the machine last longer, the key is not to overload. I used to overload my old machine and took it's toll on it, so for the new one...i am careful with the load.

I am going to buy a washing machine but not sure to get a front load or a Top load machine. Which is better a top load or a front load one?

Can anyone advise which brand is better for a front load machine.

Personally I prefer top load if the space of wash area is allowable, feeling kind of insecure with the front load after a friend's bad experience years back, her laundry got stuck inside for a good two days, when the repair men pried it open, it was a big mess dirty soap water flooding her tiny wash area. The hilarious part was the repair guys told her if it really koyak when it's fully loaded with laundry and water, with that kind of weight nobody is willing to help her to dispose of the set :rotflmao:


But that was many years ago, I believe things must have improved.

Slim take up less space, and the best part is my mom can sort out those that she only want to wash but not to spin. The good old days.

Not sure what brand is good but I can recommend a place with better price, PariSilk at Holland Village, Lorong Mambong. But the shopping experience won't be as good as those big chain marts cos the space there is kind of cramp, but their price is one of the lowest, service is good and delivery is puncture.

This kind is good for folks like my parents. The current models are just to complicated for them. The twin tubs are very intuitive for my mum. She can operate even without guidance from us.
