mummy so kiasu:
May I know which text book do you used for sec 1 Maths? Thanks.
If I'm not wrong it should be Mathematics Matters 1&2. However, we do not refer to the textbooks at all except for doing our homework, where the homework questions are from the book. -

Hello! My DD is considering of DSA into NJC. She is P6 this year. Can anyone share all about the DSA? What to prepare? What the sch is looking at? Or anyone who had gone thru the DSA can share his/her experience?
TIA
I believe that firstly, your child has to be eager and keen in going to NJ. After they have deemed you to be talented and worthy, they seek for the right attitude and spirit. One of the students in the DSA group I took care of last year had went through the entire NJ website and had already done her homework on all the facilities and programs in NJ and I was surprised at her deep understanding of her knowledge of NJC. She got in. (I was her Orientation Group Leader.) I believe that taking the initiative to understand the school as well as having a clear direction on your life is not only what NJ, but other schools look for as well in their potential students. -
Hi
can someone shed some light on the various class positions that the students can run for? DS told me there are posts for president (is it similar to class monitor?), IT champion, subject reps, NE ambassadors (?whatโs that?)โฆ but when i asked what the responsibilities were, he was just as clueless. -
Hi!I have a few questions to ask.
1.I'm a P6 student and I want to go to NJC by DSA.I'm having a difficulty choosing academics, music or sports to DSA with.I can't be choosing academics as I failed my maths last year and I know NJC standard is all As.I don't learn any music lessons and neither taking up martial arts!I'm also not in Track and Field! What should I do?What will they ask during the interview?
2.Is the compulsory boarding school rule still exists? :?:
:thankyou: -

Yes . Say what u know . They may lead you from the first sentence of what you say . Example if you say about current affair , you must prepare the latest current affair . Present confidently . NJC is a great place. My dd looks forward going to school everyday . -

My DS went through DSA to NJ this year.
1. The school had only academic DSA in the past years. Students with leadership potentials are also welcomed. Please check its website around May to understand selection criteria. My DS had a couple of Bs in his P5 result sheet, but did better in his SA1 of P6. All applicants need to sit for a test consists of three papers: maths, English and abstract reasons. If you do well with the test, you would be invited to the second round of selection, which includes a day activity and interview.
2. Yes, boarding is compulsory. Again, please check the website for more info.
Please work hard and get a good result for SA1. That would enhance your opportunity. Trust yourself! -

NJC students generally have solid foundation in Maths and Science no matter whether by DSA or PSLE results. By DSA you need to qualify in the written test which shows your RANKING overall.Only after that your practical problem solving skills is tested and an interview takes place where you have to prove or show promise that you can make it in the high ability environment.Opportunities are fantastic in non-conventional areas of holistic development and scientific inquiry as the years progress.Selected students have opportunities to pursue their interest in all fields by advanced studies of their liking. NJC's strength is in Science where they can be attached to A star/NUS/NTU/or go to Moscow/Japan/Korea etc where they have arrangements. Some of the attachment institutions are shared by NUS High school as well. This will give you an idea what they are looking for. From what I came to know those from IP program after PSLE, All students are streamed for Science with the exception of 1 class for Humanities i.e 2012 batch. This will throw some light on what will be expected by the College from prospective students for the coming years. :imcool:Hi!I have a few questions to ask.
