2013 P1 Registration Exercise for 2014 In-Take
-
Hello,
Anyone here know about the balloting result for last year P1 registration for year 2013 intake result in Fairfield Methodist Primary School?
How many vancancy VS applicants in P2B, within 1KM, 1-2KM, outside 2KM? -
I don’t think so… Probably just the total no of applicants to no of vacancy in phase 2c. Do you stay within 1 km? It’s a pretty hot school. Maybe one of the more experienced members can offer better help.

Is it true that there is totally no balloting for those staying within 1-2 km for phase 2c in fmps?

Reposting… Hoping for some respond on it. TIA
Hi everyone… I am new here. I have a few questions and need some advise on it, I hope to get some good advise here for my DD1 entry to P1 next year…
1) Our family stays within 1km of Haig Girls and Tanjong Katong Primary, and 1-2Km of CHIJ Katong. In comparison which of the above school is better in academic and also focus on the child well being in terms of cultivating the kids apart from academic.
2) is it true Haig Girls will be moving to a temporary location in 2015? I understand they recently change some of their key personel and I am concern with their recent performance. If they are moving, it will be troublesome for me to send my girls, as my dd2 is still in K2 when her eldest sis is in P2 shall haig girls be shifting to a temporary location…
3) my husband studied in St Michael, would it help us in getting into Phase 2A for CHIJ Katong?
4) Based on past school registration, the above 3 school which is a safer bet to register for first, shall we be under phase 2c?
As surrounding us the schools here are all mostly Hot, shall we not get into any of the above, I really don’t know how… As others near by within 1-2Km are schools like, KH, Tao Nao, NAPS… Please advise…
Sorry for the lengthy post.
Thanks everyone in advance.
P.s: my both DDs are playful and dd1 lack focus she is nov baby and in comparison with her peer she is much slower, any advise what I can do to help her and which school be better with training kids on focus… -
hi skyjp
hope this helps.
3) my husband studied in St Michael, would it help us in getting into Phase 2A for CHIJ Katong?
Nope.
Phase 2A(2)
(a) For a child whose parent or sibling has studied in the primary school of choice
In your case, SJI jr. -
skyjp,
If you are not old boy or girl of the school, not grassroots leader, not PV, then you will register under P2C.
Tanjong Katong - No balloting from 2006 - 2011 under P2C. 2012, all SC were successful, balloting was conducted for PR residing 1-2km of the school.
Hiag Girls' - No balloting from 2006 - 2011 under P2C. 2012, all SC were successful, balloting conducted for PR residing outside 2km of the school.
CHIJ Katong - There are years where there were balloting under P2C for those residing outside 2km of the school and some years there were no balloting. 2011 there was balloting but no balloting for 2012.
You can visit the respective school network threads to find out more abt the schools from parents whose kids are in there

skyjp,
As to your qn abt which school will help a child to focus and your concern abt your child being a Nov bb.
My view is that we need to prepare our kids for P1. There are some skills that we need to help our child to acquire before they are in P1. This can be social skills, academic skills, be more independent etc. In a class of 30, I doubt the teacher will be able to constantly help any particular child in normal circumstances.
My ds is a Sep child. Although I acknowledge that there are areas he might be a bit slow but I do not let it be my guiding principle in raising him. I did not set out to accelerate his academic skills. I know that he need to have the skills to read, write and count. So that’s what we did. When he knew how to read, he more or less took charge on how much he wish to read. Now his reading ability is on par with my dd1 who is in P2. He is able to count, simple addition, subtraction and spell. He’s a very normal boy. To help him focus, I reduce TV time, he does not play electronic games during school term. During hols, less than an hour will be spent on electronic games. I buy blocks and building games to help him to focus too. He will follow instruction to build or build stuff according to his preference. For girls, I think beading is a good activity.
He is also given housework to train his focus. So he will help to wash plates, sweep the floor, pick up after himself, etc.
Social skills, fr what I observe he is able to interact appropriatelt with his kindy frens.
We didn’t send him to external reading prog, in case you were wondering. His academic skills are acquired mostly thru kindy and home. He learned phonics in kindy and at home we use Peter and Jane series. He has Chi lesson in kindy and at home we use 四五快读. Maybe comparing with other children who attend various academic centres, he will be viewed as behind but he will be ok, I think, in primary 1 next year. I just have to remind him to sit still heehee. -

-- 2A(1)(a) For a child whose parent is a former student of the primary school and has joined the alumni association as a member not later than 30 June in the year of Primary 1 registrationchecking in as well.
DD is a super-softie golden piglet and i'm hyper worried for her when her time comes for P1.
My DH was from PHPPS but i just realised we are way too late as he has NOT even join alumni yet! he's the bo-chap type and that makes me worried even more!
any PHPPS mommies/daddies here can help enlighten us on the registration?
