Anyone can advise how far is this place from the Tampines MRT station?

Is it walkable?

I am unsure where exactly is this place. But hearing that it's near Dunman sec school, I don't think it's near to Tampines MRT. It's probably nearer to Pasir/ Changi area. It's probably accessible by feeder bus from Tampines MRT.

Read in Sin Ming Evening Papers , the Driver was devastated and crying at the scene when he realized that he has caused a fatal accident to 2 young boys.... :gloomy:


I pity the Driver , who will live with guilt about this horrible incident.
It will definitely caused him to have sleepless night....

I know now a lot of people will pin point at the Driver.....

I feel sad for the family of the 2 boys and also pity the Driver......

Hope all affected parties will pull over this difficult time.....

Everyone has a part to play. The respective authority can put up 1000 signs but if nobody want to take note of them, it is not going to work. The drivers can go slower, drive with eyes wide open and mindful, if the children are not taught about road safety and the dos and donts, how can we stop all these mishaps?


I had been scared green faced by tweens on their skateboards. They zipped out of no where and zoomed past my moving car as if my car was a phantom. I tell you, lucky my bladder control good.... I once stopped my car in the middle of the way and confronted the tween. I told him thatwhat he had done was so dangerous and I could just rammed into him as I didn't expect anyone cutting into my pathlike he did. Guess wat? He was so nonchalant that I thought I told him that today's weather was nice! :mad: :mad: :rant:

Today my kid went for an excision with his childcare mates. He told me they needed to cross the road and the teacher told them to raise their hands. He asked why.. I told him that's to increase their visibility to the drivers. Their tiny frames could be too short for big vehicles. At least raising their hands may help a little, although they should only cross the road with adults' guidance.

I told him about the accident which claimed two precious boys. his first reaction was - the boys' fault. I explained that nobody want this to happen and the boys could hv done their due diligence. But accidents still happen. I hope he learns something...

Watching this clip sent a chill down my spine.

This was possibly what happened that fateful afternoon, the boys thought cement truck driver saw them & proceeded to cross the junction, and driver did not see the boys as he was seated high up and proceeded to make his turn.

It's best no to speculate what happened until the police have concluded their investigation.

Anyway. I have always reminded my DC (and further reinforce to them after the tragic accident) that they MUST NOT take for granted that once the Green Man come on, they can cross. Many times, I have reminded them that after the Green Man comes on, they must still look at the oncoming traffic and ensure all the vehicles have stopped at the pedestrian crossing before stepping off the pavement.

I can understand your feeling.

There was once when I made a right turn into another road in a housing estate (Lengkok Bahru), a teenager in school uniform was crossing the road without looking out for traffic.

Why, why, why?? Becos she was too busy looking into her handphone while crossing. When I honked at her, she stopped in the middle of the road momentarily, gave me a rude stare, looked into her handphone again and then continued to cross the road.

I was so angry that I had almost wanted to stop my car at the roadside to lambast her! Unfortunately, it was not safe to stop due to the narrow road.

thks for putting up this video, DH and i think that was likely the case, blind spot that caused this tragic. from what i saw from the scene, the truck stop only 2-3 metre from the traffic light junction, he is probably in a slow speed , when he turned, the boys are in the blind spot and the driver missed them..

Also, there is good software that have image recognition algorithms that can identify common things like pedestrians and cyclists. Can these be coupled to CCTV systems?

People are so obsessed with their phones and devices, when their ears hear the beeping sound they started crossing the road, they do not even take a glance at the traffic, totally oblivious to the surrounding!

Just yesterday I saw a cyclist texting away while cycling passed a zebra crossing and couldn't stop in time, ended up ramming himself into the lamp post! To date I yet to see any cyclist dismount from their bicycle when crossing the zebra/pedestrian crossing. :slapshead:
