          P&J are graded

          readers...helps with introduction to sight
          words. It's not Phonics readers.
There is another Laybird series for phonics readers. It comes in 12 books. The cover is blue in colour and the first book starts with alphabet sounds. Very interesting series.

I don't thk libraries carry Peter n Jane series, never came across.
If you want to use this series to guide your child to read, it's still the best to buy at bookstores/preloved ones fr other mummies.

I find that it’s easier if you teach the child basic sight words from " dolch words" or "fry words". At least master to read the first 100 words. From there, the child can pick up pretty fast when reading Peter and Jane books. If the child shows no interest in Peter and Jane books, never force the child to read. Select other series of books that appeal to your child. The library has plenty of books for your child to select. Reading starts from young and parents should role model to read at home too.

I agreed never force the child to read P&J series if he/she shows no interest. I was lucky my son preserved till completion of 10A (from 1A & B series) before he voiced out it was too boring! Currently he is reading some interesting fact books like National Geographic Reader as well as other chapter books that his enrichment centre required.
