Even his “Two is Enough” policy, although it did not result in the desired outcome, during that period and under those circumstances, that was what he thought was the best for Singapore. In fact, several overly populated countries were curbing population growth during the 70s/80s. Although I don’t fancy his underhanded tactics to secure power, he DID have the heart for Singapore and Singaporeans. -

I mean - we have only that much land...and if bringing in more means having to build even more infrastructure to accommodate, aren't we back to square one? I can't see any improvement in people's standard of living..[/quote]I think Australia and recently New Zealand welcome immigrants to fill in the gaps for skilled jobs in demand. However, their requirements are much more stringent than Singapore. In recent years, Australians also not so happy as there are too many Asians. The other countries I think that embrace immigrants (not so sure) are UK, Canada and USA.

For now, the few agents I spoke with all told me the best value is D’leedon. It was also mentioned by another forummer. I caveat that this is not advice to anyone. -

You’re right, many treat this as a stepping stone to other “western” countries. My hubby encountered quite a number at his workplace, when after they’ve got the PR or have gained relevant trainings/experience, jump ship to other countries. They were unsuccessful in getting jobs or residency in the “western” countries initially, due to higher expectations/requirements, so come to Singapore first.Harlequin:

Yes there may be other attractive targets, perhaps even more attractive than Singapore. However Singapore is an easy migration target with wide open arms :frustrated: -
