Are you ready for 7 million people on tiny Singapore?
-
Which are the ones around $1200+ psf? I am interested.
Thanks.Coolkidsrock2:
Don't think they are bringing in more people now and perhaps the near future so they probably have some lead time to expand the infrastructure.
Am not sure about other industries but for mine, foreign staff are not getting their relevant passes/PRs renewed. Very senior guys.
I know some owners of investment properties are getting their tenancy pre-terminated. Friend just re-newed tenancy at 20% lower cos most of the units in his project is vacant and the owner needs to match his neighbour.
Went see a couple of projects at Bukit Timah, $1,200-sub $1,500psf. No taker for purchase or rental for past few months. -
Shelford.

:? I thot he was the one who wanted more?
Aiyoh, don’t everything also blame LKY lah. There were some good policies in the early days, like transforming Singapore into a garden city by having lots of greenery and expediting the building of cheap flats for resettlement.winchester:
I remember LKY was against having 6.5 million people in Singapore. Too bad now it is hard to hope that he can influence the current govt. He was also against having casinos here. Can we have him back to support our opinion in this 7 million people thingy?

he got say dont want 6.5 million? what context?
Even his “Two is Enough” policy, although it did not result in the desired outcome, during that period and under those circumstances, that was what he thought was the best for Singapore. In fact, several overly populated countries were curbing population growth during the 70s/80s. Although I don’t fancy his underhanded tactics to secure power, he DID have the heart for Singapore and Singaporeans. -
Balmoral $14xx.
-
Shelford Green? Seen before, cheap for a reason.
Coolkidsrock2:
Shelford.

Sounds cheap, which one?

Balmoral $14xx.

concern2:
Hm...which other countries are using this model? Are we carrying this to the extreme? I mean - we have only that much land...and if bringing in more means having to build even more infrastructure to accommodate, aren't we back to square one? I can't see any improvement in people's standard of living..
I think Australia and recently New Zealand welcome immigrants to fill in the gaps for skilled jobs in demand. However, their requirements are much more stringent than Singapore. In recent years, Australians also not so happy as there are too many Asians. The other countries I think that embrace immigrants (not so sure) are UK, Canada and USA.
Yah. I very the long winded one.pirate:
:scratchhead: Don't exactly get your point. You mean other countries are doing it, and we are just doing the same thing, if not, what our garmen should do if they don't do the same?
Sorri, that's my \"layman's understanding\" of what you mean..

Not Shelford Green.
Balmoral was arranged by DH so I cannot remember the name.
The small projects in the area are in this price range.
For now, the few agents I spoke with all told me the best value is D’leedon. It was also mentioned by another forummer. I caveat that this is not advice to anyone. -

http://therealsingapore.com/content/it%E2%80%99s-propaganda-paper-disguised-white-paper
Dear All,
I am PhD research student majoring in Economics and finance.
I am writing this as simply as I can. I am writing to all Singaporeans, as a Singaporean myself not to fall for this utterly disgraceful and poorly written amateurish script called the Population Growth 2030 White Paper released by Singapore Govt............
what you guys think?
Actually, I concur with the writer that the white paper is actually propaganda to convince us. -

You’re right, many treat this as a stepping stone to other “western” countries. My hubby encountered quite a number at his workplace, when after they’ve got the PR or have gained relevant trainings/experience, jump ship to other countries. They were unsuccessful in getting jobs or residency in the “western” countries initially, due to higher expectations/requirements, so come to Singapore first.Harlequin:
Relax, pals... it's not like the whole world of people is locking their migration target at Singapore, or there are no other attractive countries to accommodate them.
Yes there may be other attractive targets, perhaps even more attractive than Singapore. However Singapore is an easy migration target with wide open arms :frustrated:
