I already started feasting on CNY goodies but in moderation as I'm teaching. I can't afford to have sore throat after CNY.

So far I only bought cranberry cookies, almond cookies and pineapple tarts. Was thinking of buying some more but not sure what to buy. Recommendations?

Love letters, kueh bangkit, dried shrimp rolls, bak kwa, qi gu.....

I love dried shrimp rolls. Just worried that I might get sore throat if I abuse it!

Rabbit fish - there was a lot in the market yesterday but I just don't know how to cook. Can someone help?

Throw inside a pot of boiling water.. fish it out.. done.

The meat is flesh and tender, no need fancy cooking.

Yup that is one easy way. We do that when we are cooking a lot of the fish. So boil in batches so that guests get to eat them hot and fresh out of the pot.

During off season, this fish tend to be rather fishy. But CNY period, the flesh is sweet and there is usually no fishiness.

Wonder what is the cost like this year. Can get pretty ex depending on supply.

            Hi, Funz.

            Found it! I found my \"kee\" šŸ•ŗ .... I bought all 3 sizes x2, that's super kiasu!

I prefer to steam, cos if \"sark\" the taste a bit bland and fishes end up broken. For no-gravy-steaming, i still find that using the \"kee\" is better, the \"kee\" absorbs most of the steam condensation, leaving the fish skin intact, just need to oil the \"kee\" lightly.

            Happy CNY! Happy feasting! šŸ˜„

Also, hei-bee-Hiam mini rolls, bought whatever brands I could find, already got 14 brands at home :imcool:

I almost finished my tubs of homebaked pineapple balls and almond shells already. Trying so hard not to open my fav Fouram cookies. I also saw DH bought 2 packs of Jin fu yuan bakkwa although he said he is losing weight and will not touch bakkwa this year.

I am trying very hard to control my intake of pineapple tarts.

But my friend just gave me a freshly baked container last night 😢
Staying at home to drink more water...but cannot waste food right ? Esp those goodies made with love.
