I think you are referring to Rivervale Plaza, which is within 2 km. You could use your parents' address which is 1km. Might still required to ballot even though it is within 1 km. Your child will end up in phase 2C if he did not get into Nan Chiau. You can get more info from the MOE website.Hi,
I'm new here. Join this forum based on my friends recommendation to find out all about children education ie primary 1 registration.
I would like find out a few things if anyone can help.
1: my parents live just beside Nan Chiau Pri. They are helping me to look after my children while we are at work. Can I register my children in that school?
2: if I fail to get into the school of my choice, how many days of buffer do I have to look for another school?
By the way, I lived near sengkang plaza.
Thank you -

To be clearer, you need to submit a Statutory Declaration to MOE if you want to say that your parents are the main caregivers. However, under this scheme, you only get to ballot within the 1km to 2km category even if they are located within 1km. So it’s no difference from using your own address (assuming it’s also within 2km). You can read the MOE website on this as there are various requirements - your parents cannot work, you must work etc…
For Nan Chiau, you need to be within 1km to even try to ballot. It is very high risk so many of my friends chose to apply at Anchor Green instead.
Suggest you move within 1km or move in physically with your parents to change your address to theirs (you will need HDB permission to do that if you do not sell your own flat). -
Within 1km still must ballot…
Haiz…
Like that I would rather play save to try HIPS since I’m under 2b phase.
But distance wise is definitely further. -

Statutory declaration is required for parents who wish to register their child - using the address of the child’s grandparent/parent’s sibling, that is within 2 km from the school of choice.
If SD is used, children will be balloted - together with other children residing between 1 and 2 km of the school.
Parents will be able to make a SD if they meet the eligibility criteria :
• Both parents are working full-time at the time the statutory declaration was made;
• The child is under the full time care of a grandparent or a parent’s sibling; and
• The child’s grandparent or the parent’s sibling is not employed.
For more information on the Statutory Declaration :-
http://www.moe.edu.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/statutory-declaration/.
Children (Singaporean and Singapore Permanent Resident only) who do not meet the eligibility criteria for priority registration under Phases 1 to 2B
(http://www.moe.edu.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/phases/)
will be able to register under Phase 2C in any school (only 1 school) of choice (subject to available vacancies).
if you’ve any enquiries, may email [email protected].

however, for popular schools like Nan Chiau primary -
it required balloting within 1 km, in both phases 2B and 2C (2012).
Hence even if you use your parent's address, it is no use -
because you'll fall under 1 to 2 km distance range; zero chance to ballot.
Phase 2B (2012) :-

Can anyone provide the balloting history of 2011 & 2012 for Nan Chiau Primary under Phase 2B residing in 1km?
-
Cheerbear
If I was you, I’ll choose temasek for phase 2a (old boy). Its a hot school, ballot within 1 km the last few years. Of course if distance doesn’t matter, this is a good choice. -
I like to know more about North Vista Primary School. I was told that the school starts late and ends at 2.45pm. Can any parents from this school share with me of the feedback?
