Flat Feet Problem

I brought my son to Dr Jessica last Nov to assess his flat feet. He always seem to be a bit clumsy - falling down or sprain his legs all the time. I thought it is because of his flat feet but Dr Jessica said he had high arched feet instead. She explained her diagnosis and recommended leg exercises to strengthen the muscles in his feet, as well as making a special insole for him. Though the insole is costly but it is worth it. The insole is based on a mould she made of my son's feet so that it has the right support at the arch. Now my son doesn't complain of pain and his posture has also improved. Most important of all, he doesn't fall down anymore.Hi MMM, Do you have Dr Jesscia's website or contact?
Anyway, I had asked around among my relatives. Their children have visited this clinic or shop at SGH. Their rate are comparable to Dr Jessica's. Quality wise, pretty good (according to my cousin) and the best thing is, their children no longer complain after wearing them.
I want to compare these two before bringing my kids down.
Personally, I find Dr Jessica to be a very nice, soft spoken lady and very professional too. -
Sounds good… do you have her address to her shop?
I have checked with my relatives and seems like majority of the kids had went there to have their foot assessed and had their pairs of insoles (if they need).
Shall update here soon after my visit, be it to dr Jessica’s or the SGH’s. -
Dr. Jessica is at Orchard Clinic, Tong Building #06-03. 68844123.
If you drive, you will have to park at Paragon, Taka or Lucky Plaza, there is no public parking at Tong Building.
She is a Caucasian, very pleasant and professional. A lot of her patients are school kids. -
Hi I've brought my ds to see her too for his flat feet. He's wearing the custom-made insoles for more than a month now & ds says he doesn't feel pain in his legs anymore when he runs.
Dr Jessica is a very nice lady indeed from NZ, very willing to listen & in no hurry. Also, she will only recommend what is good for you & will not push a product if she isn't sure it's going to work out. Ds likes her & feels very comfortable talking to her.
I must thank you fongjin for sharing her contact here. It's hard to find a good, professional doctor who listens & willing to spend time with patients to understand their actual problems.
Do remember to bring the Toy r us card for free consultation for children. -

Suspected flat foot, but turned out to be short hamstring and tilted pelvis. Currently she is undergoing weekly physio with Dr. Jessica. -
Just want to add on that for boys with flat feet problems, Dr Jessica had informed me that such condition will not be diagnosed at time when they enter the army. It can be a problem for our boys as wearing of army boots may aggravate the condition. Hence, she advised to get a doc’s cert to show to the medical officer at time of medical exam. Just for your info…

Hi, I had brought my boys to the one at SGH (the one that my relatives had recommended). It turn out to be that one of my boys had flat feet too. did a customized insole for him. I wanted to get my younger one to fix a pair too. but turn out to be that he is too young (4 yrs old) to determine if he has flat foot or not (according to the in-charge).
It seems like the in-charge is a honest chap and is only doing insoles only for those who needs it. My hubby did one too. But, it would be best to fix an appointment first before going down. They had another outlet at Far East Shopping Centre too. Pricing wise, it is slightly more expensive than dr jessica but good service though. Can consider this too!

I have this discussion with Dr Jessica about the age for insole for children. She said that if they have no problems and are less than 6, then no need. But if they are falling or clumsy or got pain then can treat one. More for the symptoms… If your younger son have any problems like that he should get one bcoz if he is in pain or falls over more when he be running around then how? Wait for 2 years with him in pain?
Because she treats many children patient I think I would trust her. Also back to my earlier post, how can public be more ex?? -
Hi, my younger boy has experience no pain in walking or running. Its just that he has a very obvious flat feet. has been constantly checking on him about his feet now. so no worries!

Just to share my experience. noticed DS has flat foot when he is about 6 years old, seek doctor advice but was told to leave it as it is, as they are too young for intervention and may outgrow it, so called. I regretted following the advice and should have seek second opinion. 4-5 years down the road, DS started to complain of pain when he has P.E or play catching with friends. He was also getting clumsy and fell easily. I thought he was just careless. But no…he came back from school one day and told me his ankle and other part of foot hurts. That was when I realised I have neglected it fortoo long.
Doctor appointment followed and fast forward to today, his flat foot is quite serious to the extent that doctor exempted him for PE and NAPFA, got principal to allow him wear high cut shoes with ankle support as his foot muscles are not strong enough. He is also wearing insole and going through physio.
On hindsight, I could have insisted on doing something for him, at least to build foot muscle when he is still young before puberty.
