Yes, there are chances for transfer. You must get your kid to top his other school or minimum high Band 1. Join a good CCA that Ai Tong is strong at, and put your kid on the waiting list.

And since Ai Tong is a SAP school, make sure your kid scores really well (above 95) for Chinese.

First and foremost, the school must have a vacancy before it will transfer someone in.

The school has total control of to whom they will offer the vacancy,
and it is not first-come-first-served. It is not unexpected for the
school to choose the one who stands out the most among the long
list of students on waiting list.

If you are talking about transfer BEFORE P1 starts, then after losing at Phase 2C ballots, you must quickly put kid on waiting list. Then, if anyone pulls out before school starts, they might give those on the waiting list a chance. From the waiting list, priority is given to parent volunteers (who contributed to the school), then SHHK members, then the general public (citizens first I hope). Another factor is the distance from home.

If you can't get in before P1 starts, then you need your son to do very well in the other school he got in to try a transfer for P2 onwards...

Anyone staying in Bishan and sending their child to Maris Stella primary by school bus? What time does the bus normally pick up your child in the morning? I intend to enrol my son in Maris stella (my hubby is alumnus)but afraid he needs to get up very early. Called the bus operator and was told that the last pick-up in Bishan is 6.30am! Gosh then those before need to wake up at 5plus!?

In that case, I think I may go for kcpps.

Go for good school around your area so that your kid can have better rest. Furthermore you also need to plan for alternative transportation days in which he need to stay for cca or remedial, if any.

The distance to Maris Stella is not very far from Bishan. If driving, it will take me between 10-15min at most. I believe even if you try KCPPS, the timing will be about the same. How do I know? Because when my son waited for the school bus last year, the KCPPS students were also waiting there. Guess what? Sometimes, their schoolbus arrived before my DS schoolbus! So unless you send your DS to the school yourself, I don't see any difference. Hope my info is useful to you. ๐Ÿ™‚

Fabipillow, are you staying within walking distance to kcpps? anyway for next year 2014, p1 is still in the afternoon session. The school will go single session in 2015.
