I see. Ya, I asked my agent, she told me she tried to get a life policy for her client's son diagnosed with ASD but was rejected. If brand new policy, definitely will reject.
Other conditions coz at that time he wasn't diagnosed yet. But I saw in some local forums that they were rejected when declared autism. And they don't differentiate between high functioning or low functioning. So long autism, all lumped together.
But health insurance shld covers right. Sigh.. Its so costly to go into stay in hospital in SG. -

Hospitalization policy too.

ImMeeMee:
Nice term NT.
Summer tan, NT refers to neurotypical. This is our lingo at this forum, rather than using the words normal or abnormal.Summer tan:
Thanks ImMeeMee. May I know what is NT?
Actually I just decided to call up the ICCP child care 2 weeks ago and the principal said since one student is leaving they can take in my son. I didnt know that there is a long wait list for other ICCP centres. Btw, the principal did not do any assessment for my son. We just went there and she talked to me about the centre's programme. Then i gave her the psychological report and that's all.
Yes, though my son can blend in to mainstream, he has difficulty socialising. The current PCF teacher feedback that he would sometimes scream or spit saliva, use f word (his father accidentally said it beginning of last year, he used it at K4K then after that didnt for more than half a year and recently started to use it but only in school not at home), hit his friends, purposely gave wrong answers during teaching which teacher said confused the rest of the students, cannot sit through during teaching time too. So i think he is much more difficult to handle than a severe ASD kid.
Oh you are staying in the north too? Is your child in preschool or primary school already? Thanks ya for sharing the info.
Ladies, thanks for all your advice and kind words. I feel so good that finally, yes finally, I have an avenue to turn to. Thank you. ..
My doter is coming to 6 this year. She is currently with an EIPIC center in the morning and a mainstream childcare on most afternoons.
Lucky you to be able to enrol into ICCP within such a short span of time. Good luck, and let me know at a later stage if you still need CC contacts up north.
My son also went to eipic centre and it's very faarrr, all the way from north to west. So good that your gal can go to mainstream cc. -
Summer,
Pcf sucks… Do not bench mark ur son due to them.
My son also in mainstreaming cc w smaller group n is copping real well …
He loves seeing his friends n he is able to call all teachers name n now he is almost fully toilet train …

For PCF N1 & N2, it's 2 teachers for about 12 students. Whereas it's one teacher to 20 students for K1 & K2. How old is your son? I think my son is a special of a special needs. Cos not only does he not able to socialise he is active too. Hence I don't think any mainstream kindergarten will accept him..
I can only take a step at a time now. -
Nope , 24 to 2 teachers for n1 n n2 but most of the time is one teacher to 24 kids. Really . I engage n pay numberous of time for therapy down to help the teachers . These what the therapist has observed . Really …

Mummies
How much do you think about your child’s future, and about how they will sustain themselves when parents are no longer with them? -
phtthp:
Yes, better to enrol ASD children in Montessori setting. PCF is mainstream, cater to the normal developing children. ASD children will disrupt a regular kindergarten class as compared to the EIPIC school that ASD children attend.Summer tan,
please do not send your son to PCF, because the class is too big, > 20 kids. It won't help him. Mashy is right - PCF is ok for normal developing children, with above average IQ. Those with special need, it is advisable to go elsewhere.
Your son need lots of attention, preferably in a small kindergarten group setting. The smaller it is, the better! See whether is there any good, reliable Montessori kindergarten around your area, where school fees within your budget. Check out all the Montessori pre-school(s), in your vicinity in the north. -
Summer tan:
Yes, I heard of from friend work in a normal kindergarten setting. The child will be asked to withdrawn after the teacher's assessment that the child is not suited to study in the class due to the disruptive behaviour such as running around the class, screaming for no good reasons and pushing classmates who are of smaller built down.Hi all
I've been reading this thread for quite some time. My son is in k1 and is diagnosed with pddnos aka high functioning asd. He studies at PCF and goes for therapy twice a week since the start of this year. But the teachers are not special needs trained and cannot handle his misbehavior. The principal requested that he studies for two out of four hours which i feel it's meaningless for my son. I intend to withdraw him from pcf and I'm sending him to an ICCP half day child care next month. Still big class of 20 students inclusive of my son and a speech delay boy. They have an aunty to help look after that boy currently.
I hope the special needs trained teacher can handle my son as I think he's ADHD cum ASD. Have u mummies heard of cases where even the trained teacher also cannot cope and ask the child to withdraw?
