If you want to self-teach, there's lots of advice right now. Yes, the results take awhile to bear fruit. However, I believe it instils discipline and helps them to \"multi-task\". At their tender age, learning to coordinate eye, hand, (mouth to read aloud) and fingers is no easy feat.
haha - I'm doing that now, altho' I'm in no way qualified to be a teacher. But circumstances are such that I'll be my child's home and only coach for these 2mths while the teacher is away. No lessons. Thankfully, I've learnt quite a few tricks and tips from his teacher over this past year that he's had lessons with her.

            yamaha music school ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

all the teachers are not part time like those other music schools. come when there's lesson and go as and when they want to.

all teachers in yamaha music school at least have a gd 8 in both practical and theory. highest is fruit for thought ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

                  Hi Phankao,

Oh you mentioned that even if with grade 8, is not qualify to teach so do you think I need to request the teacher to show me her diploma before I engaged her service ?

What should I look out for apart from the cert ? The teacher claimed that she has taught many students and was in this line for many years already.

                  Thank you in advance ๐Ÿ™‚
actually I've not bothered to ask for physical certificate. Bc I'm familiar with the teachers engaged.

you parents just have no idea how poorly the Suzuki method is looked upon in the USA and Europe by top violinists(I'm a violin teacher trained in the States). Suzuki only started to learn the violin at 23 with Conus, and came up with some funny ideas, some crippling to the student.

visit my website at http://www.efficientviolinist.com or call me if you want real lessons.

BTW, teachers at the the Suzuki school aren't taught the Suzuki method of teaching, I know, I taught there for quite a while before furthering my studies in the violin
