Power nap is really good. I even use it for myself.

Power naps are very effective. I believe in having this daily...or else I cannot function till 10pm, if I wake at 6am. After school, I get kids to take warm shower, have lunch, relax and then nap. Of course on days when they have PE, it's harder to get up.
I think power nap is the best. Ds sometimes naps for 15 mins on the sofa or in the car.

So nice! DS takes time to fall asleep even when he is tired. If he takes power nap, it is not easy to wake him up after 30mins. I have to 'drag' him out of bed. So my way is to exercise with him to pump him up!

Same, DS oso takes time to fall asleep every night. What kind of exercise do you all do with them? Wun they feel physically more tired? I am working so it has to be something he can/feels motivated to do on his own... haiz...

I am wishing I can take more time off to be with him during this so-difficult period...
Given a choice, I will prefer him to take power nap but have to learn to adapt to his body.
I get him to swim mostly but we also take fast walks at a nearby park. It is not necessary that he will be physically more tired. In fact, After the workout and a rush of adrenaline, he can actually be more energetic. Weekend...hubby is particular, he makes sure we get some exercise as a family so we also inject a bit here and there. It is really fun to cycle around punggol waterway, we normally do the full track which takes 2 hours. Understand FTWM has limitation during weekday, try it during weekend, it may help to bring back energy. It works for us:)

I am quite in a dilemna. As it is, she has difficulty getting to sleep due to hormone changes, if I give her power nap, she will be even wide awake. Not giving her power nap and she sleeping late, is affecting her performance and will become a vicious cycle. It’s very vexing chasing her to bed by 10.30 latest and she actually gets to sleep only at 11.30pm which is very stressful to me.

A friend recommended me GabaNite, 5 ml for DD to take and help her sleep. Anybody tried? She said there is no side effect as she gives it to her hyperactive 5 year old kid. I read up on it and it says that you can use night after night and will not cause dependance on it or adverse effects.

Hi, what about getting your dd to do some exercise like jogging, cycling or even swimming. It helps the children to release spare energy n they get to fall asleep easily. My dd faces the same problem to fall asleep during night
if she takes an afternoon nap, thus she normally wouldn't take any nap but take a good shower, she will exercise during the evening time, we make sure she hit her bed at 10.30pm. Personally, I wouldn't subscribe to giving drugs, there is always potential of getting addicted n also how sure it is that there will not be long term adverse effect.

Mine too. I let him sleep on the sofa in his uniform but not on the bed (I think his uniform is dirty). He will fall asleep fastest when he just came back from school. I think he must be very tired.

my son can fall asleep when he is dirty...maybe after taking the shower, he is clean and fresh, so cannot sleep.

i will push the both of them to take a bath after school before we have lunch.
after lunch and relaxing (time to digest), they will knock out.

Same dilemna! DS will take very long to fall asleep at night and if he takes power nap in the afternoon, it is worse. I observed on few occasions that he actually slept only past midnight after much turning and tossing. I felt stressed too.

To help him sleep faster and better, I made a few adjustments to try out what may work for him. E.g I changed his bed position facing several times until he feel safe and comfortable. Then I try turning the fan together with air conditioner on while he is trying to sleep ( air con to be turned off once the room is cool) and he actually likes the fan turning sound because he feels secured. I also changed different night light ( different colour and voltage) to make the room more conducive. I also control his supper intake in terms of amount, not too full or sugary. These days, he does fall asleep faster than before and what is more important is that he wakes up feeling charged. In the past, he often woke up grouchy and complained of insufficient sleep. I do not know exactly which one works best but I guess as long as it is non invasive like drugs, I will just continue to experiment.
