          Lavina:

The soup I cooked using thermal pot tasted very clear and \"raw\", even if I boiled for 1 hr before putting into the pot. Not sure what I did wrong. :scratchhead:
The totally volume of the soup should cover >75% of the pot in order for heat to be retained properly for the soup to cook. If there is a lot of headspace, then the soup/pot will lose heat very fast, so it won't cook. So it is crucial to get a pot that is suitable for your family needs - don't go and buy the biggest pot out there, which I did intially cos it was only $20 more

Also, add around 20% lesser than you would normally do for thermal pots, cos no water is loss in the cooking process, unlike the conventional boiling over the stove. So you will end up with a more dilute soup.

Is it for her only? Then you have to buy a really small one, cos rememer the contents must reach at least 80% for it to work.

Depending on your budget, you can get the Thermos shuttle chef (they have the really small ones for 1 person). Itโ€™s abt $200 w/o offer and you should be able to get it at major dept stores like taka, robinsons and isetan. My best friend has this.

If you do not want to spend so much, you can consider buying at places like Giant or Japan Home (coincidentally I just saw it at Japan home selling for $29.90 last night). Itโ€™s a different design from the thermos one. I bought this from Giant years ago to cook porridge for DD when she was a baby. I find that it works for me, although the thermos might be able to keep the heat for like >8hrs while my cheapo one starts to lose heat after 6hrs.
So depending on your budget and needsโ€ฆ

I hv 2 small Thermos small capacity pot, prob is the opening is not very big, so scooping takes a little more time.

Good for cooking porridge, braising small qty food
