In terms of amount, it's really up to individual. Personally, in the spirit of donation, MBS was my primary school and also there is a 2.5 times tax deduction, personally, I am keen to donate more (eg. hundreds range). But seriously it's up to individual. It's the thoughts that count.[/quote]
:goodpost: Yes. Was thinking too...in support of the school, I will donate too. The school is very supportive. Teachers & Principal. I can't ask for more.... :rahrah: -

Hi Wolfgirl,Wolfgirl:
Has anyone gotten any news or further information about the Chinese online learning platform??
My girl has not said anything about that.
You may go to asknlearn website, key in your child's BC no. as username & password. Then you explore there. There are quite a number of links to Chinese learning platform.
My child's teacher has not informed anything about it. I logged in to explore and discovered it.
try both asknlearn also the Chinese Mag website.

Anyone feels the same like me? I'm a working mum and my child is in the afternoon session. After shower & dinner, I can only revise some work with my child from 8-9pm. Bedtime is about 9.30pm.
No time to even log in to asknlearn to let me child explore also. Everyday in the morning will just be learning the CL, Math & EL spelling and did a bit of the enrichment class homework. Then lunch time and goes to sch.
This is Singapore children's life?

I am a FTWM with 3 kids (P6, P5 and P2).
It's really challenging... On top of my own work, need to monitor school homework, enrichment homework, exams, etc.... It helps that there is no CA except for P6. Pros and cons IMHO....
I've reached a point that sometimes I've to deprioritise my p2 for the upper primary kids. Or rope in dh to help. But there is only so much we can do. Sometimes looking at my p6, she has so much homework that wonder how to find time to revise.
I've a friend who used to have only 1 child. She dedicated all her resources on her child so her child is well-prepared for P1. Now that she has 3, she told me that her 2nd child don't even know his ABCs. Eg. compared to his elder brother at the same age, there are alot of things they haven't spend time teaching him. I told her it's understandable.
Well.... last paper is tomorrow evening after that we can have a really short break before gearing up for term 2 and SA1... I am going to treasure this break. -

I think it's possible to enjoy the 1st 2/3 years but it all voice down to one's expectations. Eg. do you want your dc to be in the best class from P3 onwards? Are you happy if your child is average but enjoying school?, etc...
Some kids are naturally bright and disciplined. But most are not and require parents' constant monitoring.... I recalled my 1st meeting with ds's (P5) P1 teacher. She asked if I was happy with his results. I said I was because he has improved from K2. Well he only scored 80+ while alot of his peers were doing 90+ or full marks
So I think it really voice down to expectations.
With 2 kids in P5 and P6, I personally think laying a strong foundation is important. Your child need not be top in class (scoring full marks, etc..) but your child must have a strong foundation and understanding what he/ she has learnt in lower primary so that they do not have to address these gaps in P5 and P6. Eg. maths concept.
For me, so long as they enjoy school, positive development through exposure in school activities (eg. cca, etc...), does well to make it to a decent secondary school, that is good enough. -
I am those not kiasu type and think most mummies unlike me now? My son doesnt have any enrichment classes during weekends. No assessment books nor anything for him. Night time only help him with his homework, thatβs all. Before he go school, his own free time, can do whatever he wants/like.
Even if heβs belong to the weaker kids, just attend remedial and heβs happy about it? We just wanted him to enjoy his childhood. Itβs too stressful nowβ¦ -
