      Hi, Hi,

Mine took a dive too, but it seems that the whole cohort dive together… I think what is important is to find out where the child stand still. From what I understand from my gal, many are failing. The top class is only doing at mid 80. So I guess at the end of the day, absolute scores meant nothing to me. Is the relative that matters…

It’s normal that their results drop in P5. Fret not! As long as they do consistent revision, their results will improve. Give them more time and practice more.

agree.their standard not drop.their marks only drop cos of the difficulty of paper. As i expected Eng dropped tremendously, but whole class dropped tremendously.i think different teacher has different approach or everyone neglected english as me.My son didn't demoralised.I am happy for that.He seemed realise something, but long way to go.I haven't see any paper yet.

Yup, that happened during my other P5 girl few years ago. Even top student also dive from 100% marks to low A Star. But still maintain A star rating.

Based on experience, these kids will pull up during mid -year exam (don’t care what different schools called SA or CA or funny funny names, traditionally an exam hold in May is still mid-year exam)

My DS can’t adapt well to p5 life. He felt stressed with the homework load, now after the ca1 exam, he became demoralized.

I did look at the whole cohort but definite my DS dive deeper than the rest.

                Newuser,

Your kids cohort results so fast out?
My boy math dived. Am sure dived deeper than rest as he said mostly careless mistakes and he was quite upset that he doesn’t want to talk about it. He doesn’t want me to sign him up for tuition too and beforehand, claimed that the paper was not difficult. Pride before a fall, maybe? Had told him that if he got informed to attend supplementary class next term, just take it as free tuition.

Overall DD did ok. As per expectation, results dipped. However the teacher taught the kids to look beyond raw scores. Most students didn’t do as well as previous exams but there was a handful that still managed to score full or close to full marks.

What was different from previous exams? The length of the paper, format and time management. The P5s need to finetune their exam skills.

Let out kids recharge. More to come … very soon.

My son told the maths paper easy, number of qns reduced than the standard paper.30 mins for paper1. I don't understand some teachers set the paper harder while others set easy in the same school.Haven't see the papers, so cannot tell, english is harder or not.But teachers prepared the kids for facing a drop.My son is ok if he get a pass.

For Maths papers, it may be because the kids are unable to detect the correct heuristics methods to use. I would like to recommend the book challenging methods made easy. I used it for many of my students. Works wonders. Do try to find it in popular.
