Parents shocked by kids racking up huge bills playing 'free'

same here...if kids want to install app, they have to be free and i will key in password...once installed, i will logout.I don't give the kids password. There was once, after entering password to purchase a free game, they manage to purchase something by clicking on it a while later.
It's only a few dollars but I set my own rules to NEVER pay for any Apps. So I only install Apps when they are free. -

iTunes sends email notifications of every purchase made by credit card. Makes me wonder how the parent missed $4300 worth of notifications.
I did not receive any email for iTunes purchases :yikes: How to request? -

For mine (using iTune cards), the email notifications come automatically, usually within a day or two.jtoh:

When you set up your iTunes account you have to key in a valid email address. It will then notify you of all purchases. I don't recall making special requests.jtoh:

I bought mine from overseas. Getting overseas prepaid cards will enable you to gain access to that country's iTune store. For instance, I could not download the kindle application earlier on with a Singapore account. However, with a Europe iTune card, I could access the kindle application and install them on my ipad.ChiefKiasu:
Never give your children the password to your iTunes account, especially if it is tied to a credit card number. Even better, don't tie any iTunes account with a credit card number - just buy iTunes pre-paid cards to top up the account if necessary. That way, you can limit your \"loss\" to at most a few tens of dollars.
My kids are all on iTunes acct tied to my credit card. I get an email notification whenever they purchase apps/songs. They have been rather responsible all these while (they'll always get my approval beforehand and they bear the costs themselves) but after reading this, now I'm a bit scared.
How/Where can I get iTunes prepaid cards for them? -
Thanks for the info, metz.
