Yah, love the frixion pen. It’s pricey but good. Recall erasing off pen work using that scratchy blue erasers in the past and usually end up with holes in the paper - wish we had that then.

but I think frixion may not be permitted in exams. it’s easily erasable leh.

I only know that gel pens are not allowed. 😄

Not being reliant on correction fluid and/or correction tape means that children will make effort (have to! 😆) or give extra attention as to how their work is done. It encourages conscientious attitude towards any written work being assigned to them. I bought my girls this PILOT erasable pen to discourage the use of the tapes. 😄

It is slightly pricey but comfortable for use - it has a good rubber grip apart from the erasable feature and the ink does flow smoothly without having to put pressure during writing.
My son's school disallowed friction pens since P4. The handwriting will disappear after a while due to friction between papers.

Oh dear… i only recall the Malaysian kilometrico brand that has the erasable feature pens as well but has since discontinued. My girls’ school does not restrict or ban usage of any writing or correctional tool to date.

              Yes, only ballpoint pens allowed.

I love to use gel pens…so I bought several when I write notes. I like pilot v5 too.

My son is left handed…I have been correcting his handwriting since he was n nursery. His handwriting was so bad last year, almost got thrown out of tutor’s place. Grateful to her, or else his handwriting would never be legible.

I read somewhere that the ink will also disappear under heat. Imagine the T takes a stack of scripts home to mark, but left the scripts in the car boot over the weekend. And the car was parked in the sun. Come Monday, you find missing words in the scripts :yikes:

My niece love to use this pen when doing her accounting tutorials, especially when she can't seem to get her numbers right 😆

I'm probably a bad parent but hey, if my kid can link 2 pictures together, I really don't care if he uses a ruler or freehand. I was really shocked when DS1 first came back with a big cross on his homework just because he didn't use a ruler and all the answers were correct.

And I think to my dying day, I will still not geddit why beautiful handwriting is a must because as they progress on, the amount of writing they will have to do will be much more - I rather my kid can finish writing than to have copperplate and not be able to complete. I have only seen one person in my years who could write fast and beautifully (it's really like printed form) - only One. The rest of us can only lapse into horrible writing when it comes to exams.
I had the same experience with my daughter drawing freehand lines - had to teach her how to use a ruler! As I said, it's something that will pass eventually as teachers will stop making such a fuss about handwriting eventually. Just aim for legibility! My daughter has physical limitations which cause her to have poor fine and gross motor skills, so I tend to go easier on her when I see that she really can't cope. For my younger daughter, I would be a little stricter if I saw that she was being messy because of carelessness and laziness as I feel that it's disrespectful to the teacher not to put in a reasonable effort. The irony is that my younger girl is left-handed and so everyone presupposed that she would necessarily have poor handwriting, but she was often held up as an example in class for good handwriting!

PSLE scripts will be kept under lock at HQ until the marking days…so if they are stacked tightly together for 1 month before marking, one has to pray hard correction tape is not stuck to piece of paper and reveals what should not be.

. MOE does not restrict or ban usage of any form of writing or correction tool as well. So it is still up to individuals.

Agree with ngl2010, frixion pen ink will fade & disappear after a while.

Better to wean off correction tape if possible. Not allowed for O & A levels.
