I roast nuts for family snacks eg. almonds, hazelnuts or mixed nuts.

I do homemade popcorns too, it's actually very simple to do.

Once in a while I make agar agar, milo popsicles, edamame, sushi balls, roast salmon skin, baked potatoes and bread sticks.

Snacks off the supermarket shelves my girls are only into raisins, but I will rinse off the sugar coating before they stuff into their mouths. πŸ˜‚

I pass fruits to my kids as snacks after they come back from school. Its one of the more healthier options out there.

Use a small oven toaster, those from Best Denki. Don't need to pre-heat toaster, or else nuts/seeds would burned. Line aluminium foil in the toaster, spread them on a aluminium foil and use the low heat. For bigger nut like almonds, spread them wide apart.... for seeds like pumpkin seeds you can roast more at one go. The aroma would tell if it's done.

Transfer to kitchen paper towel and wait for it to cool down completely before adding salt (if you like) and storing in jar.

Add some raisins and dried fruits into the jar, shake and serve

Another way is to fry, with low heat in dried pan/wok, no oil required… keep turning til it’s done; quite labor intensive but tastier… frying is the best method for peanuts.

Thanks harlequin! The roasting of nuts seems do-able for a noob cook like me heh. Btw where would be a good place to get raw nuts?

I got mine from Isetan supermarket, NTUC Finesse at BT Plaza at organic aisles at B2..., there are many kernels, seeds, nuts available there in a few different brands.

Pumpkin seeds are quite easy to start, can fry first then roast, when frying can cover with lid for brief moments to quicken, it won't get burnt easily like peanuts. Pumpkin seeds are good to go with breakfast cereal too. πŸ˜„

:imanangel: Rinse partly due to the handling process, the harvested grapes are not washed and nowadays there is no sun dried but \"smoked\" dried after the grapes dipped in syrups. Main concern is the residual of pesticide la. πŸ˜‚
