All About Preparing For PSLE

Hi
Does anyone have a good PSLE tutor to recommend? My child needs Eng Math Sc tuition. Many thanks -

Give him a hug and tell him that no matter what the result is, you will always love him. The most important thing is that he had put in his best effort. I remember my son used to cry at home whenever he can't get 100 in lower primary. We told him that as long as he had put in his best effort, we will be happy. He had since adjusted well because it is very hard for him to even got above 90 now [/quote]
My P2 boy is burning out too. This morning suddenly cry and tell me that he is worried that he can't do well for his test tmr. I just stopped everything this morning to let him relax. Games and all. We have been revising and all along he is doing well. His results are always in the range of 95 to 100. I'm kinda worried. I can't imagine when he gets to P6. Oh no!TheAnswer:

If your kids have tuition, do let go on your part...burning candle both ends will lead to premature burnt out. Weather is very hot, give kids more liquids like barley water and soupy lunch (bee ta Mak soup or bee noon soup)..helps to digest.
P1 to 3, it is very easy to get that range close to 100, only if the kids are not getting then it is unusual!! the true challenge is P4 onwards….. it has to be above 85…..or else, give more encouragements to motivate to achieve >85 after P4. But do give unconditional love = as parents, u need to accept that every child is different with certain ability and capacity to learn.
Do NOT push your child over the edge! give them unconditional love, as long as they tried their best, accept their efforts. Always accept the fact that in a class, or anywhere, there can only be ONE number 1, 2, or NOT everybody can be a rocket scientist or doctor! Bare that in mind, that's a fact… give your child lots of love and encouragements, as long they tried their best accept their ability. Do NOT push them over the edge! cheers :rahrah: :imcool:
Kids need to have space and time to relax….We always stop all learning or studying just before exams start! we brought our kid to the beach to cycle to relax even just B4 PSLE! Not all parents can do that or brave to do that! she is now very happy and in Raffles. we always let her decides her study pace and time! even choosing RA subjects or whatever :grphug: -
Wow… It seem that everyone is talking about scoring 100 in lower pri. My elder son who took PSLE last year did not score 100 in any of the subjects, not even in P1. His PSLE results were alright, top 10% in PSLE cohort.
My P2 girl is even worst, she got band 2 for Chinese. I have to give her more time. She is more playful than her elder brother. Don’t judge your kids so early. Some of them are late bloomer. Just make sure their foundation are good. -

i agree with you totally...foundation must be strong...it's pointless reaching the top without a strong base.
son is picking up slowly at sec 1 this year...before that, it has been an uphill struggle. daughter at p3 is worst...playful, rebellious and totally different from brother...i can get son to do his work, at most he will complain but will still do it...with daughter, i have to be very firm and most of the time raise my voice...even chinese tutor tells me the same thing. -
My son told me that his one of his classmates got 3 strokes of cane because he only got 99.5 instead of 100 in CA Maths recently :yikes: I told my son maybe if I start canning him, his result will be 99.5. I told him that it is cheaper to buy a cane than paying for tuition :rotflmao: :rotflmao: The form teacher knows about the canning but cannot do anything.
Some parents are really too much :siao: although that particular student has 2 brothers managed to get into RI. It is enviable but I myself won't like to be canned so why should I cane my son? :siao: -

I think it is unacceptable to cane the child if he did not get a prefect score. Young kids need a lot of encouragement. My boy received his results for CA1. His marks were commendable although he did not receive 100 marks for every subject. It was close enough. My boy was the one who was upset as he lost 2 marks due to careless mistakes for his Maths paper. DH and I took him out to celebrate. Kids also need to relax. We just surprised DS with breakfast at Swensons todayMy son told me that his one of his classmates got 3 strokes of cane because he only got 99.5 instead of 100 in CA Maths recently :yikes: I told my son maybe if I start canning him, his result will be 99.5. It's very pitiful to hear that.

Just bcos 2 brothers are in RI, doesn't mean youngest one must go there too.
99.5 is so so so good...what's the prob with the parents? -

It is unacceptable but we could not do anything. Canning is still allowed here. Even the form teacher cannot do anything.

Something is very wrong with these parents. I say they are very cruel. They valued academic marks to the last decimals, over their child’s well-being. The child is young now, there is little he can do, wait till he is older…he may rebel or worse, lost motivation to study because what he does is just not good ENOUGH for his parents.
