Yes. You are absolutely right. In fact my student wanted to replace her English tutor but no luck. If parents have any recommendations, please pm me.

Very true. I waited for so long to get a geography teacher. Where do you stay?

[What kind of tuition are you looking for? Which level?
I agreed with meinteel. They can teach but really lack of responsibility.
Previously, I had engaged a current school teacher to teach dd. We sent dd to the tutor’s house. While dd was doing her composition at the living room’s table, the tutor left dd alone doing her compo and went to watch television with her husband although the sound volume was rather soft. But the TV was just three steps away from dd’s table. Both the tutor and her husband are current school teacher. I was so upset and discontinued with the tutor.
I encountered similar situations like that above. The tutor assigned some work, and the tutor went to do something else in the house.

Since then, I prefer not to send dc to a one to one tuition at tutor’s place.Bad experience!

Worst, when dc asked the tutor to go through certain work, the tutor prefers doing something else as in the tutor ws rather than clarify dc doubts. Its a one to one tuition!

i had bad experience with 1-1 tutors too.

one english tutor will ask me what i want her to teach my son that lesson.

the other chinese tutor was worst !!! girl was in k2 then, and tutor was supposed to teach her hanyu pinyin. once i was washing loo and daughter came to tell me the tutor wanted to talk to me asap...guess what, that tutor was desperately looking for me to say my daughter could read ao, ai, ui, ou  i was really fuming mad.
she disappeared for a holiday...i called her several times but hp was switched off...when she returned, the first sms she sent was to ask for increment, said new level have to increase with market rate...never once asked how the kids did for sa2.
engaged another tutor for my daughter...only to realize she didn't learn anything...all THAT PREVIOUS tutor did was to say, 聪明 and offer her sweets.

smsed her to say kids will be very busy when school reopens, and if i needed her to teach again, i will inform her.

mummy of three:
I never try 1-1 before because of budget, but I thought it’s supposed to be better?

It's definitely supposed to be better, since only teaching ONE.
That school teacher who charged me $80 for 1.5 hours suck...wonder how she teaches her students...to think she can ask me at beginning of every lesson WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO TEACH TODAY ?
The other one...no better. Insist asking my daughter to call me to go into the room just to tell me my daughter could pronounce those hanyu pinyin, totally ridiculous. What is this nonsense? Could not wait to fire her...all she wanted was increment.

Hmm...with so many ex-teachers coming out, why are good tutors so hard to find?
