Hi octoberbaby,bearbear1:
My boy keeps on telling me that eng enrichment in united sq cost $80/lesson, doesnot really teach abt comprehension. I am not sure whether to withdraw and join another eng enrichment in Thomson Plaza/Simei point. Please feedback, is it true that the one in united sq doesnot emphasize a lot on comprehension?
Are u able to share the name of the enrichment school?
Appreciate if you could share more on that too...
Thanks!
The other day, I walked to TLL and asked them the cost of lessons there. Its about $80 per lesson for English. Then I walked home and asked dd if she wanted to join her friends there for tuition. Nope, even if they do allow their students to borrow storybooks from their well stocked library, she said. So I told I would send her for tuition if she did badly for the mid-year exams. -
7 weeks to SA1… i can foresee a drastic drop in dd’s SA1 results is unavoidable… now is all depend on how i manage my expectation and emotion…

Yes, SA1 - complete with zuowen and oral
.
I wonder how much of a drop in results is considered \"normal\" and expected for P5. Anyone knows? -

look at class mean score to have a clearer picture as difficulty of paper may vary.KSP:

I agreed. My gal from Band 1 drops to 70+
but the consolation is still above the mean score.. This is how i attain my sanity..
Really need to buck up before SA1. -
My DS1 school gave their students some test worksheets to do b4 the Mar holiday. Test results are not counted in SA1, it’s just to gv the students and parents a rough idea of how the qns for SA1 will be asked. My DS1 is able to maintain his grades for maths and science as per his P4 grades which was good for me and DH. However, his grades for english and mother tongue dropped quite a lot by about 10-15 marks. Is this normal? Me getting worried and trying to help him do better for SA1.

Any recommendation for science enrichment? Has anyone tried Learning Point or Science Alive at Marine Parade? Thanks.

Hi Club 2002 :celebrate: ,
I suppose it is reasonable given that the papers are set according to PSLE format. DD's EL HOD told the class that a score of 85 and above is consider a feat and only a handful would manage it
, so go ahead and give your DC lots of :hugs: :snuggles: when they are there or not too far off, time to :nunchuk: :nunchuk: if not there yet.

getting the right enrichment for dc is important and sometimes can be time consuming too… very often we do not know how strong (or weak) dc is in a subject until we see the SA marks in upper pri level…

Yup, I guess u're rite though looking at the grades DS1 is getting for the two subjects, I almost freaked out. I need to let loose a bit cos he's not doing so bad since both his maths and science grades are still band 1. Hopefully he'll do better in SA1. :snuggles:memouse:
