I didn’t even know him then…how to make him fail? When I knew him, he was repaying study loan. Sorry, off topic.

Back to Sec 1. Study first…don’t tell me about going steady. I told son his wings are still not strong until he finishes O levels and can go out with girls in a group…翅膀还没硬…father still supporting him.

Dating will lead to spend more money. Money usually come from daddy. Where got so much money to sponsor them? Parents got to save for sons to go dating?

Daddy still has to work hard for him to attend tuition. Go for dates? What does he know about earning money? One movie ticket is $8-9. Drinks and popcorn excluded. Told hubby before, even if I provide money for son to learn driving, I am not in favour of him taking car to drive girlfriend around.
          Take a bus.

If he wants a girlfriend, study hard...or else eating at food court also a problem. Take a bus...no such thing as using father's car to date.

Frankly, while still at school, surely both should share the cost of ‘dates’? Except for special occasions (maybe), I would expect my daughters to pay their share while the boy is still financed by his parents. If the boy takes the initiative to plan, arrange and ask, that’s pretty good already. And they should tailor their dates according to their resources - there’s no need to spend a lot of money each time. When my husband and I were dating as students, I mostly paid my share as I knew he couldn’t afford to pay everything all the time. On special occasions, one or the other of us would specifically offer to bear the full cost. And we found ways to spend time together without spending much money.

When I started dating DH, we were both poor students. We paid for our own share out of our own pocket money. Can always go for cheap dates. DH likes to bring me for aimless long walks around the neighborhoods explore or he likes to act like a tour guide. I still remember when I was 18, we had no money for valentines dinner so we only went to town, walk walk, people watch and eat Fastfood. But still pretty happy.

I totally agree with what you say. I used to make sandwiches or snacks for DH when we were in Uni so that his pocket money could be used to pay for his mum's medical bills. Obviously the ingredients were from my own fridge which my mum topped up regularly. Those were the days.

Oh yes, I agree. If DS wants to date girl next time, he will need to take bus unless he can afford his own car.

Anyway, I always tell DS that they will change as they grow up so better concentrate on his studies first. Otherwise next time no money how to settle down? Now is the time to enjoy the company of his buddies.

We took bus too...drumming the importance of studying hard for his future.
To earn more money, even eating at food court (1 bowl of noodles is $4.5/5 for 1 person) or restaurant, to be able to buy what he likes...so must study very hard now.

As a man, he has to support the family.
