The Real Reason Why We Send Our Children to Tuition

The Real Reason Why We Want Our Children to do well in their study?
- Introduce discipline and determination, from learning , time tables, time management, these are traits which will help in the future life
- instill drive for performance rather than be satisfied with what is achieved
- I want my girls to do well to achieve their own ambition and not be disappointed or lament about "What didn’t I work harder" kind of thoughts.
- Naturally, my kids do well, I feel good but neither do I want a bookworm on my hands. They should work hard and also work hard at other areas such as sports or music which ever their interest is (not mine).
- Learn to handle the stress. if my DDs feel the pressure to excel, it gives me the chance to coach them on how to manage it. Stress can also be a good thing so it is a manner of making sure that it doesn’t turn into a monster and destroy a person/child.
- by doing well, it also expands their choices. I will never know if they will change or what they will want in life but I do know by nudging them to do well. It will expand their choices to do what they want in life. They choose JC , Poly or whichever path but at least they have that option to choose. -

Don't scare me.Is it bcoz there is huge gap btw p4 n p5?? The questions in p5 not so straight forward anymore???We do not speak Mandarin. Even if we do, that is not sufficient to help kids with 作文, comprehension and oral...3 big ticket items in the exam.
For Math & Science, hubby does the coaching. Actually, son did very well for Math when he was in lower pri and above average for mid-pri...that convinced hub he was able to coach till upper primary...the first month he was in P5, all went haywire...hubby could not understand the big jump. From 80+, son dropped all the way to 20+ for CA1 :frustrated: -
Vinegar dear,
I am not scaring you…the jump from P4 to 5 is big.
Maths is the biggest killer. The reason for the difficulty is bcos syllabus is very much like P6. -

The tuition our kids attend is not to boost morale...it's genuine case of coping with higher standard now.
Daughter's picture compo seems tough for her level (p3). When i enquired, I was informed that it is tougher for the purpose of scaffolding :?
Son's PSLE compo last year...2 choose 1, be it continuous (strange sound in the library) or picture composition...Easy to write out of point. Asked my son what does 'strange' sound refer to...he said definitely cannot be a cry...so it is like sound of robot or snake hissing.
So with such PSLE questions, kids need tuition. -

I actually beg to differ tuition is used to boost morale and it really depends on the parents' perception and the ability of the kids as well. The tuition our kids attend is not to boost morale...it's genuine case of coping with higher standard now.

Unless the teachers are talking down the child then having tuition isnt the solution to boost morale.
IMO, I don't find \"Strange Sound in the library\" easy to write out of point\". A strange sound would just refer to an unusual sound which you do not normally hear in a library so the story can be written in a manner where the person in the library realised it wasnt your normal flipping of pages , light foot steps but a thud thud which makes your skin crawl. That is why i dont see the need for English tuition, reading and comprehending what you read is key and noting down the flow of passages , the vocabulary used.
So even now, with my P1 and P2. with the use of picture compositions. The main thing the teacher tells them in focus on what is in the picture and use vocabulary to expand.
