TheAnswer,
For mee hoon,hv to pre-soak first.
Try this: take a bowl, stir in some chicken stock, tau cheo, belacan(or tom yam paste),soya sauce(light n dark),oyster sauce, some assam juice.
When ur mee hoon abt to ready, pour in the mixture n fry to mix.If too dry,add in some more mixture or chicken stock alone. Finish frying, cover it n let it simmer while,so the mee hoon absord all the mixture.
Lastly, add in the eggs, prawn, fish cake or vege(I normally fry the this ingredient separately).
If i lazy,I also fry udon…simple n no nid to pre-soak.I normally fry udon wf black pepper sauce or teriyaki sauce, cabbage, fish cake or salmon. -
Kids love bee hoon especially in soup. Younger one is fussy eater. She dislikes porridge. Sometimes the weather is so hot in the afternoon and I would love a bowl of porridge…but when I make chicken porridge, she refuses to eat.

I buy Fairprice’s 365 Pizza…add own topping

My boy prefer soup but my man prefers dry. Aiyo…
I prefer udon so they shall eat udon with me.
Udon soup. Udon dry. That shall be it. -
I’m having dinner with DH tonight probably at NEX. Anyone can share where/what to eat?

Hi Jennifer,http://nyonyafood.rasamalaysia.com/ayam-pongteh-nyonya-chicken-and-potato-stew/2/
anyone has cooked something similar to this Ayam Pongteh?
1/4 cup oil = ? ml or tbsp
1/4 cup taucheo = ? ml or tbsp
3 cups water = ? ml
Many thanks for the advice.
I've tried out this recipe before and it's really yummy. Kids and hubby loved it. The measurements are standard. 1 cup = 250ml, 1 tbsp = 15 ml. This is a very friendly chicken stew.
I personally prefer Chef Wan's version as he adds more \"liao\" into it, like star anise and cloves. He also added some chilli padi for that extra \"kick\".
Hope this helps!

Where to get this recipe from Chef Wan? :rubhands:

Should I use kampong chicken, normal chicken or chicken thighs??? -
Jennifer:
I cook that pretty often. Both chicken and pork version. But mine is simplified as I do not add other spices. Shallots, garlic and taucheo is all I add. I will also mash the taucheo so that it blends into the gravy and omit any sugar as I do not like my food to be sweet.http://nyonyafood.rasamalaysia.com/ayam-pongteh-nyonya-chicken-and-potato-stew/2/

1/4 cup is approx 4tbsp. As for the water, add enough to cover the meat and potato to let it simmer.
When serving, I will break and drop a couple of green chilli or chilli padi into dish. -
