Hi, my conventional iron just broke down. Need advice/feedback from parents here if the steam iron Philip/Novita brand, the 'vacuum cleaner' type is good compared to normal iron using with the ironing board. Thank you
Unless you can settle for a less than perfect look, the steam iron will only reduce crease/wrinkle. For some materials, a normal iron is still needed for the pressed look. -

You are referring to those used in boutiques? Heard that these suck up energy like crazy so be prepared for higher electrical bills. Also as mentioned, these type won't have the nice ironed lines for pants/shirts since there is no pressure applied. and last thing I recall from someone who used it is that the hand gets a tad tired with all the movement up and down. -
Hi I have both types of iron. And it’s true what hquek says. Yr hand do get tired with the up and down movement and its more suitable for ironing jackets/coat type of clothing. Blouse and shirts I still use normal iron on ironing board.

Hiya, would like to ask the users of the Karcher steam cleaner if they are able to steam clean the floor below their beds? My current very old Osim iEcology is unable to bend the steam rod to clean below the beds. Instead, I have to use a mop.

hi
I went without maid for 3 months and ended up having a lifeless life. Very fatique almost every end of the day. I find it very stressful and difficult to go on as i am not a full time housewife. Have no help from hb. Kids will only help me with mopping on weekend. I could not tolerate messy house as such i need to tidy the house everyday. Need to tips on managing the household chores. -

Mornings after they leave for school/work, I tidy up. As weather is so humid, feet tend to be sticky...so I mop floor more often...wetter and let it dry, use lesser energy too. No babies around, so no worries. Vacuum floor 2x a week and ironing. Tried to go out once before kids come back from school...asked mum to cook lunch. Only 2.5 hours to spare since have to take bus to and fro. -

You can find lots of tips here on how to prepare a fast dinner or dinner in advance. For me, with some advance prep, dinner can be done in half an hour e.g one pot dinner like fried rice w miso soup, noodle soup, porridge, pasta etc or niang doufu soup w rice. For dishes that require longer hours to cook, you can use a thermal pot and cook in the morning like pork ribs soup w (corn, winter melon, potato & carrot & tomato, lotus root, water cress (to be added in the evening) or chicken/beef/ribs stew with the usual potato, celery and carrots.
Some times u can also ta pao steam chicken or any dish from a hawker stall, cook rice and add a simple vege or egg drop soup or buy roast chicken / roast ribs etc from the super market, put frozen french fries on a tray and heat up in the oven or toaster (or airfryer). Make a simple salad and add on can bake beans or fry a sunny side up.
Other than french fries, u can always use frozen prata, a simple butter rice with peas or just heat up a can of Campbell soup and throw in some alphabet pasta.
As for sick children, no choice one needs to take turns with spouse to be on leave. And most importantly, is to make sure kids are healthy by eating healthly and expose them to lots of sun and exercise. Confining them in enclose air con space to me is very bad for the health.
