M1, Singtel or Starhub?
-
Anyone of you still on those old 12GB mobile plans? I'm holding onto mine from Starhub... but they refuse to give me LTE on that old plan, which I'm ok with even though I have an LTE phone. But the thing that makes me really mad is how they put those on this plan on such a low priority that I could hardly use mobile broadband when I am in congested areas (eg. Level 3 of Parkway Parade, and in crowded areas in shopping centres).

What's LTE, Chief?

I am still holding onto it but I am with M1. Is that why my connection now is worse? :scratchhead:
12GB with M1 does not get 4G too.
How do you know that people with 12GB plan are put on low priority? -

Before they released the LTE plans, I never had ANY problems with connecting with HSPA. It was fast and reliable. When LTE became available, the connection was horrible. The phone couldn't hold on to any signal. And it was the same phone. Even after I upgraded to an LTE phone on my 12GB plan, I had the same problem. Never saw a 4G signal, and I could hardly hold on even to a 3G signal when I am in a busy place. My friends who are on the LTE plans and with the same telco had no problems at all, using the same phone as me. This happened so many times that it has gone past being funny. :rant:ChiefKiasu:

LTE = 4G. Okay, goddit.
12GB plans? :scratchhead:
Does 12GB refer to maximum data bundle?
Mine is under M1's iPhone Extreme Plan.
Took this plan up cos won't need to pay for the iPhone (back then during purchase). Plus also because it has the unlimited local data bundle on top of free incoming and some few hundred minutes of local (voice) outgoing). I also have the unlimited SMS which i super :please: love since i used to burst all my SMS counts till gotta pay extra. I use the iPhone for everything so this plan kinda suits me nicely. Never gave me problems until it decided to die on me for a month... until i could not take the withdrawals any longer, decided to get it to a shop to see if it could be revived. It could! Phew... The fella put in a new battery that cost me $70 plus service and it's good till now. :xedfingers:
Aniwaes in short.... for me whether it is the phone or its plan, no problems at all. -

My iphone died a few months ago too. I think it could be the battery problem. May I know which shop did u go to service yr iphone. Thank you very much. -
I went to a shop at Choa Chu Kang MRT station, opposite a cafe joint... I think it was Wang's? Must double check agn when I'm there. Can't remember the shop name off-hand either. Was just fixated on getting my baobei fixed. I decided to try going to a repair shop cause I was almost sure my iPhone has no other problems cept the battery. The touch-screen was still good and sensitive to my touch.. home button still quite tight.. all other phone functions were fine. When he quoted me $70 to which I asked can last for how long and the fella replied 6mths to 2yrs if there is no other issue with the phone... it was an immediate... deal, I'm in! :please:
Hubs did his along a shophouse or something along Waterloo St. Recommended by a colleague whose wife's phone drowned in the toilet bowl. The dead phone was revived with some $150 thereabouts. Hubs' iPhone problem was loose home button, non-responsive touch screen, volume problem.. also tahan quite awhile.
Depending really whether the phone is worth fixing, I say go for it. I'm replying via my iPhone now... in the toilet.

Oh yes, forgot to add…
Unlike some other service centres that bring the phones inside or to the back room to check it out… these two repair shops at CCK and Waterloo do it in front of you so you’re assured nothing was tampered with. -

If your iphone is out of warranty, just bring it to Sim Lim Square. Plenty of little \"workstores\" with glass cabinets sitting outside the shop waiting for your businessOh yes, forgot to add...

They are quite good and reliable.
