Hi, any recommendation of a dietitian or nutritionist in singapore that is not too costly? I’m thinking of changing my son’s diet, giving him supplements. I’ve read from different sources about certain supplements including fish oil, zinc etc but am worried that I give my child the wrong dosage.

Since I’m here, may I know if cod liver oil or fish oil is more effective? Which brand do you recommend? GNC sells child life cod liver oil but it’s $55 whereas online store is selling at around $30 after shipping charges.

By the way, someone asked what is DSP, it refers to Development Support Programme. Sorry for the late reply…

It uses biomedical, I wonder how effective this is?

My son was on biomedical for only 1 mth and I stopped.

Its too expensive to maintain and it needs to be complemented with GFCF diet. So I decided I should just spend my money on traditional therapy treatment like ST and OT which has proven to be effective.

          Mashy
I tried many methods of making him stop his tantrums, soft and hard ways. But everytime, he is unhappy, he will do it again and don’t remember what we have taught him. By asking him to go to one corner for time out, is like asking him to sit on naught chair or standing at naughty corner and he will wail louder because he doesn’t want to go. I am wondering if there’s any method to even prevent him from bursting out? Like when he himself knows that he is unhappy, he will go to a corner or do something to vent out his frustrations quietly instead of choosing to shout and cry and jump.

When my son cry at the noti corner, I told him that I will restart the timer if he doesn't stop.

I prefer that he learns to talk about it. Sometimes if they keep their frustrations inside them too much, it's also not good.

Thank you for a reality check. I guess when I get worried, I over planned. Yup, planning for p1 2014. But I read in this thread about p1 readiness assessment? Is this compulsory? How to I go about this? Kkh?
              Sweetbaby

The P1 readiness assessment is usually conducted when the child is about 5 years old to assess the child's readiness in school placement. Special education schools need this report as part of the application process into their schools. It can be done either at KKH, NUH or by private psychologists.

But if your child is going into a mainstream primary school, this report is not compulsory. Hope this helps.

Can I check with the exemption for Chinese?

Since it is exempted in PSLE, how about sec school? Are the kids required to take another second language in sec school?

No. The exemption continues in sec school.

Thanks everyone for the advice but I have spoken to her parents and they apologise many times and thank me for my understanding. But it still didn't solve the prob. Although hitting my gal was not intentional and stem from the fact that she lacks control, I can't fault her either. Her parents has talked to her but I think it didn't help because it happen again and again.

I have no prob with my child mixing with her it's the hitting part that I am not comfortable with. I mean who would like their child to be hit in school all the time? Whether intentional or not.

I m getting my gal to try hang out with other friends beside her. I think that is the only way for now.
My experience with my daughter is that just telling her that it's wrong and not to do it isn't enough. The lack of self-control will mean that she won't remember the instruction when under stress. There needs to be someone to stop the behaviour then and there and make her act out the correct behaviour, and it may take many repetitions, more than any NT person feels is necessary, to see change in the behaviour. So the parents will need to teach her when it happens at home, and maybe your daughter and her friends and teachers will have to do this in school for the lesson to stick. It's hard that she is in different environments with different people, but I feel that's the best way. Perhaps her parents can write out a social story or some instructions about this which she can carry with her in school, and your daughter and others in school can remind her to look at it when the issue arises.
