Poor grandma pronunciation. His grandma has lesser teeth and not educated so I guess he just has to live with the fishball name.TheAnswer:
My student's name is Christopher but his grandma calls him fishball. It's a small matter. He is 10 this year. He just grins when he hears that.
:rotflmao: How did Christopher morph into Fishball? Terms of endearment.

I would say forget about this mis-pronounciation, intentional or not. Not worth the time n effort to dwell on it.
I think it depends on whether it is purposely or unintentionally . If it is unintentionally, eg, too difficult for them to pronounce, then it's fine n no point getting angry.mummyJune:
Yes, my daughter will response to Claire & clear. Now she is 2yrs old, & my hb said at such a young age, she might not understand that her ah ma is calling her the wrong name. so she also response to the name 'clear'.
with mil so stubborn & refuse to call my daughter her correct name, my hb always said just take it with a pinch of salt...sooner or later when my daughter grows up, she will correct mil...
But if she is stubborn n purposely called it wrongly on purpose, then it is another issue. -
my late dad had difficulty pronouncing my ds1's name. and always commented why we didnt stick to the more usual name.

My own mother cannot pronounce my son’s name properly. I think old people are like that leh… No need to be upset about it. Sometimes we cannot pronounce foreign names properly too e.g. so many variations in pronouncing Ikea, Esplanade, Ion, Hermes, etc. Don’t think negatively when our elders cannot pronouce our children’s names lah…

name wise, close 2 eyes bcos it is not worth getting uptight over pronunciation.
i know i can say this bcos i do not stay with them under the same roof…if hubby honey honey them, i don’t bother…bcos his max tolerance is just 1 hour. -

I guess if you donch like a certain person, every little thing that THE person does irks you!
Haha! Don't get too worked up over a small thing like this. My PILs love my kids to death and they still can't get the names right all the time. We just think of those little mispronunciations as terms of endearment.....

NTUC is running a redemption programme for xx brand of container. Every $30 purchase entitles to 1 ticket.
One day MIL asked me whether I am collecting these tickets which I am not. She then told me that herself and 1st SIL are, and that if I hv these tickets, to give them to her. Fine with me.
I went about buying my usual grocery items and slowly accumulate these tickets.
Last week, I passed to her around 6-7 tickets.
The 1st thing she said: wow, you buy so many things ah?
I kept quiet.
