phtthp:
Thanks for your advise...After p1 registration end in August, if you want to buy school uniform, can start to buy around late October or November 2013.
Do not buy in December, bec after the release of Psle results in dec, this year batch of p6 pupils will buy their sec 1 school uniform. So uniform shops like \"bibi baba\" (for example), will be very packed. Bec shops like bibi baba (eg) happen to sell many primary schools' & sec schools' uniform.

Children born in 2007 will be in K2 this year. In fact term 2, April is one of the most critical month to assess your own child as a parent. Below are the following questions that you, as a parent, should answered yes to all the questions to gauge is your child ready for Primary 1.
1) Can your child use the toilet independently?
2) Can your child brush teeth by himself/herself?
3) Can your child undress and dress up by himself/herself without your aid? This includes button and unbutton front buttons and zips. Excludes zips and buttons at he back of the clothing.
4) Can your child wear socks and shoes by himself/herself?
5) Can your child hold the scissors correctly and follow the straight lines or curved lines to cut confidently and fast?
6) Can your child hold the pencil correctly and write neatly, legibly and fast?
7) Can your child read the sight words/high frequency words?
Can you child blend phonetic sounds?
9) Can your child speak confidently in front of a group, e.g: classmates ?
10) Can your child socialise and make friends easily?
11) Can your child read story books eg: Little Miss, Mr Men Series, Geronimo Stilton series?
12) Can your child run, hop, climb, leap, jump, gallop, skip confidently?
13) Can your child draw and paints confidently?
14) Can your child grasp the basic concepts of Math?
15) Can your child grasp the basic grammar rules in English?
16) Does your child have excellent self-help skills and is very independent?
The above are some of the questions that I can think of to give parents a guide on how they can help their children. The best time to meet up with the child’s kindergarten or Childcare English or Chinese teacher will be Term 2. The teachers will be busy with concert and graduation preparation in Term 3 and 4 and little teaching will be conducted. Term 2 is the acceleration mode and parents have to open both their eyes and ears to really hear what their teachers say about their children’s progress. Don’t get defensive and over-protect your children. Receptive parents often are the ones who are able to further help their child to propel forward in their overall development. Most importantly, don’t drown the child in a sea of worksheets if your child does not understand the fundamental of Numeracy or Language. The child must have a solid foundation in preschools to gain an edge over others in primary schools. If you suspect your child has a developmental delay or learning problem or handwriting problem etc, bring your child to the polyclinic to get referral letter to KKH CDU (Child Development Unit) for further assessment. -
Sembgal,
U are right. Last year, my child’s kindergarten term 3 onwards, teachers spend so much time preparing for year end concert that come term 4, the rehearsal eat into their academic time. The teachers seem so concern over the performance of year end concert, that they neglected teaching at times. -
