In the past, those who successfully enter the second round (i.e. those invited to participate in the second round) are awarded a nicer and more official cert. given by RI for those who achieved high distinction and distinction.

From the website, there are 20 TOP schoos and the student names listed there. Are they P5 or P6 or mixed? Seems GEPers.

Junior Cat are the P5s & below & Open Cat are the P6s. Both include the GEP.

You mean below P5 also allowed to take part?

          Top 15: Higher Distinction
          Top 16 to 50: Distinction
          Top 51 to 120: Credit
          Hi Dyh,
Just wonder how do u get this info ? Can't see this in the website.

I am still puzzle with interpreting the result ..
Say if a student's result is 90% , does it mean that he is the top 90% as compared with his peers taking the same result?
Say, out of 3000 children, he shd be at 300th position right?
IF this is correct, then he shd not be awarded a Credit cert, right ?

But there is a child with < 85% but still can get Credit. Why so huh ?

Anyway can help to explain? :?

Thanks ss501... 2013 only mentioned abt 51st to 120th position , and not on D or HD cert. Anyway, believe it shd be the same as per previous years ...

              2013 info fr RI website:-
All participants will get an online Certificate of Participation from Raffles Institution. The certificates will be available on or after Tue, Apr 02, 2013, 00:00 MYT.
The 51st to 120th position in Round 1 of the contest will be awarded the Certificate of Credit.

Paisay .... maybe that's why he can take again this year. And the title of the Certificate will state whether it's a Certificate of Participation or Credit or Distinction or High Distinction. πŸ˜‰

The top 30 names in the website inclusive open and junior category right?

From the names of the school, majority of them are GEPers. Nanyang, Nanhua, Rosyth, RGPS, Tao Nan…,minority from the neighbourhood schools.

Strange ACS, St Hildas, SCGS, Pei Hwa, Catholic High, and those schools usually we buy test papers, are not in the list.

Hi, SCGS and Pei Hwa are not GEP schools. So it is quite hard to compete with the cream of the cohort in those GEP schools.

Catholic High is the top school for open cat this yr.

Pei Hwa is in the top 20 schools for Junior and Open cat...not too bad for a non GEP.
