      in the IJ family -

besides St Nick, which other IJ primary also a full school ?

or is St Nick the only full school so far, out of the entire IJ family ?
Only St Nicks is a Full School, under 1 Principal.

No wonder balloting so fiery hot in st nick, within 1 km - be it phase 2b or 2c.

Bec it’s a full school and those from secondary Sch before but never from the primary Sch also get in.

It’s also no mean feat for 1 single principal to handle both the primary and section section concurrently.

Yes, SNG Principals namely retired Mrs Lee, Ms Choo, Ms Chan( under her, 4 yrs straight produced Top O Level scores) and current ex-SNG Mrs Tan have made a great impact in this schools.

To be able to handle both primary & secondary schools’ section issues concurrently is a very challenging role! The principal need to come from a familiar environment - not just any ij school, but from st nick itself where she grow up in. No wonder the current p is a former Sngs girl herself.

Curious … Are the current p from both chij (Toa Payoh) primary & secondary section - also former ij (Toa Payoh) girls or outsider (ie. non ij girl) ?

Does anyone know how Marymount compares to OLGC in terms of 'standard', facilities, teachers, CCAs, etc? Appr any insider view that I won't be able to discern from the schools' websites. TIA!

Thank you for your reply 🙂

Lucky gals indeed!!!! For St Nick's, there was 1 yr that no balloting required even for Phase 2B - I think in 2009. After that year (esp 2012) it was quite madness...

I'm from one of the IJ schools but my Alma Mater is too far from my home. St Nick's is my 1st choice but looking at the balloting rate and we're abt 2km away - it's much too risky. Correct?

In 2009, there was no balloting for those living within 1km. After that, it was crazy even for citizens living within 1km. 31 applicants for 18 seats in 2012.

You cannot even get to ballot at St Nicks if you live outside 1km.

If you don't want to risk it at all, Marymount Convent at Phase 2B or 2C is a shoo-in. Even OLGC, OLQP, OLN, Katong are quite risk free at Phase 2B. CHIJ TP will ballot within 2km for Phase 2B and within 1km for Phase 2C.

I have been reading through earlier pages of this thread and since all IJ schools are pretty much the same (except SNGS), I tried to check the affliation COP to see if it’s really worthwhile to travel and was shocked to see that the cut-off for IJ Toa Payoh is 242 without affliation. Have they gone the same way as SJI now? I remember in my days, it wasnt a very competitive school, just one of the good school.

CHIJ TP is better than the other IJ schools. It is only slightly lower than SNGS but definitely of higher standard than the rest. That’s why I told you it was a waste to abandon CHIJ TP for OLN…

the cut off for IJ TP has been raised to 220 with immediate effect...it is good bcos the standard is maintained, this made me push daughter a little to meet that...although she is in p3, it is never too early.

st nic is sap school...my daughter is struggling with her normal chinese as it is...the 听写/默写 is somewhat similar to son's when he was in sap primary then.

You mean 220 with affliation? I saw on the school's website it's 200 but IJ TP must be the first choice. The COP in 2013 for 2012 PSLE without affliation is 242. That means now only 20pts advantage unless they up the COP again next year  I was thinking 40pts advantage die-die must go. Otherwise based on this forum's ranking, index of 2 (TP) vs. 1.6 (OLN) is not that big a push.
