Very good advices and sharing given by the parents here.

I have come across kids who are actually talented but become discouraged because they didnt start off with a good teacher. It would be rather challenging to get their motivation and interests back, though not entirely impossible.

quality - gotta tried first bah... or else how to judge?
For 45 mins piano lesson, think maybe $150/ Mth is reasonable.

Dear parents, my ds have been going to cristofori for 1 year plus and prior to that almost a year in CC. Stopped him from cristofori as they screwed up the exam registration. The teacher failed to communicate to me on his registration for Grade 1 exam despite telling him to do so. When asked why his answer was \"I asked your son and he said he is not ready\". I was baffled my his answer. :slapshead:

So now I am looking for an experienced piano teacher who is responsible and able to motivate my ds. My ds is 8years old and we live in Bishan. Appreciate if parents can recommend. Thank you so much in advance.

          PM me please.

I just see how he/she teaches - the interaction with my child, whether clicks/gets thru to my child, and whether I like the approach.

You are welcome, in fact, the standard question is how long, how much, go to Tr's place or come over to my pl, but for the technical qns, I believe it really depends on your own experience and your own expectation,

If a piano tr scold a k2 student bec she forget what she’d learnt last lesson bec din buy piano yet to practise, should she change tr?

                    Thought tr should encourage kids.

I find that it is rather unprofessional for a teacher to scold a student because of an issue that is not within a student's control.

Anyway, not all teachers are the encouraging type. There are popular ones who are more blunt and harsh in their approach; they are by no means bad teachers. It's just that not all students will be suitable to study under them; students who study under them need to be self-motivated and disciplined.

I was at Yamaha Plaza Singapura and saw a grand piano at $185,000 :yikes: :yikes: :yikes:

Of course there are cheaper ones but I was so surprised that the price can be as expensive as a car πŸ˜“
