All About Autism

Yes I am looking for an ABA therapist. Braverymom, can you share your therapist information? Is he independent or part of a clinic? I tried to google search yesterday for autism therapy and found a few clinics that provide ABA therapy. A couple have been mentioned earlier in this thread I believe, like Weecare. Tried calling but again am discouraged by their wait list. Looks like private clinics waitlists are just as lengthy. Last night when I search online further, I found this clinic called Unraveling Autism. Does anyone have any experience with them? Please share if you do. I will call them today to find out more about. Hopefully they will have space.

Because I don’t want to make my message seems like an advertisement, so I decided to PM. Unless the other parent also want me to post. Haha!

Has any mom faced discrimination from the school before in the form of lies being told about the child’s behavior or having their special needs child being shouted at? If so, can you share how we are able to deal with this effectively? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for your PM. Also wanted to update on Unraveling Autism. I was able to talk to someone from the clinic yesterday. They sounded very professional and took the time to answer my questions. The best part is getting an appointment with them for a consultation next week. So far, I am quite satisfied. Will see how the appointment goes. -

Communicate with the school and the teacher, Windie. -

Windie, whether NT or special needs, I would be very concerned if the school is lying about or shouting at the child. My eldest gal is NT, and I recall pulling her out of her preschool back then when we saw the teachers shouting at the kids when they misbehaved. Although we did not see the teachers shouting at my gal, seeing them shouting at the other kids was enough to make us uncomfortable to continue with them.
I believe in open communications with the teachers when it comes to the kids, but if all else fails, maybe its time to move on.
My two cents worth. -
Mummies , how will u react if someone come n ask u this " is your kid austistic ? "
This person do not have any kids herself that is ASD … -

If the person is well-meaning and not just being nosy or nasty, I would say \"what makes you ask that?\", and take it from there. That has happened to me before - it was a good friend who is a teacher and learned about ASD in her studies. If the person intends to alert me or sympathise or offer advice, I won't be offended.Mummies , how will u react if someone come n ask u this \" is your kid austistic ? \"
