Hi, yang hong ying also has some bridging readers which is more wordy than picture books but still colourful and not as thick and intimidating as those novels. One eg is this:

They can be found in the library too...:)

Ya, I know what u mean about the small font...and all squeezed together, even I cannot take it. I prefer books with no hypy, in fact I cover the hypy with a ruler because I don't want them to guess based on the hypy...:)

These books are easily available in the library, under 'yhy' books for 7-10 yrs old... Don't need to buy from DD...:)

I recommend this series by 张秋生. It is a collection of stories and each story has about 4-5 pages with small fonts and few pictures. I found the language standard and themes to be just right for a P2. Each story is like a chapter in chapter book and I thought it will be a good transition to chapter books. I also like it that this edition has no HYPY.

SAHM_TAN : Yes! This is the thread i was referring to!!.... Thanks so much! 😉 Will check on the books that some mummies have recommended...

Musings : In fact I almost bought these series by 张秋生 just few weeks when i saw them in Popular but i reckoned DD shd be cheaper so prob wil order fr there. Thanks anyway! 😄

PiggyLalala : As I am not really into Chinese books, it's tough for me to know what are the interesting books/authors in the library without not spending much time digging and searching... But thanks to mummies like you who make life simpler for us... :rahrah:

BTW I thk we shd have permanent threads on KSP on BOOKS... English and Chinese books. I do see some threads on books recommendation flying around...
I am sure many parents will be more than glad to share good/interesting reads for kids on an on-going basis and this is def gg to be beneficial to many out there..

                    Hi!

Appreciate if any parents can recommend interesting Chinese storybooks for a lower pri?
I m quite at a loss what kind of books to buy for my kid now as he seems to be \"stuck in the middle\".. he is not into those thick wordy books by China authors like 杨红樱 and he is def over picture books.

Hv anyone tried Roald Dahl books in Chinese??... Wondered if it is as friendly as the English version but i have come across translated books (EL->CL) that i find alittle \"weird\"...

Btw i seem to remember reading a thread on parents recommending Chinese books but I cant find the thread...

                    :thankyou:!!!!
                    Hi iLoveChubby

My DD enjoyed this book called 二年级的花太郎. You could order from dangdang if you are planning to get some books from them.

Another series that has been recommended by her school teacher is 君伟上小学series. Planning to just buy from her school book fair as I understand these are by a Taiwanese author, not sure if dangdang sells them.
