Hindi exams conducted in different schools every semester.

Nandini, no use! We have tried before, but nothing happens! Even teachers say the syllabus is too hard, especially given that there no hindi speaking environment here in Singapore!
Also I did mention earlier that you know your child best. If you feel he can cope, then by all means go ahead with Hindi. Btw, I thought you were a tamilian, given your first post, so was a bit surprised to see you say that the Tamil environment is also new to your child.
As for changing, I don't think it's really possible. Since your child is in P1, you may be able to swing it, but for us whose children's are in higher classes, the option is closed for us.Nandiniim28:
Regarding the level of Hindi being difficult than in India, May we suggest to BTTSAL to consider revising the syllabus? Do DAV and hindi society both follow same books and syllabus? I am thinking of giving some time to my child and see how he copes... Really bad means no other choice than changing school, which is a major thing:-(

Nandiniim28, i guess your position is difficult. Your current school is convenient , also if you change now, you can only move to schools that still have vacancies ...so if your child is strong in languages, it is ok to go ahead with Hindi.
My post was about my experience. I can't read / write Tamil while I was good at Hindi. So taking Hindi for DD made sense. But upper primary was not easy Β to guide. once bitten twice shy. So I put DS in Tamil, and so far I am happy with it. Now I understand what DD missed out on. Luckily DD was strong in language ( she started taking Hindi from P1 only), but towards psle I felt she spent about 35% of the time on Hindi and it was the most tedious thing for her. She badly wanted to get 4 A * Β

If anyone has upper primary also, I would like to know. Looked real hard, but could not find anything which has the Singapore curriculum as its core.

Came to know of this site recently. Wish there were more of such sites which children in SG could use based on the standard expected of them.Came across this site for hindi. May be some of you wold have checked already-:)

If you tell DAV anything,it just falls on deaf ears. Most of the parents that I interact are of the opinion that Hindi society is better organized. Maybe should consider switching if DAV coaching is no good.
